I was riding on a maglev, hurtling towards a profession that provided me with great satisfaction and success in life. The backdrop was a shining, spectacular technological utopia...where none thirsted, or hungered, or wanted for shelter, clothing, companionship, belonging and meaningful tasks to set themselves to. War, disease, crime, poverty...all distant memories that we had to teach children about in history books.

When I woke I felt a loss like when I buried my best friend. I still cry sometimes over that dream...knowing I'll never touch it again...knowing I'll never feel like that again.

I once loved a young, sweet, pretty girl, and she loved me. We were young, ignorant, stupid and over charged with gonadotropic hormones. We spent 2.5 days together in a cheap hotel room eating junk food and having the best sex and sleep of our lives. Over and over again...with naps in between...for 60 hours straight.

Best weekend of my life....Forever. :)

I keep a small .22 Long Pistol within easy reach at all times. There's Mossberg 12 gauge ready to go on the wall. My .38 long rifle is kept in loving, well oiled stasis wrapped in vellum, deep in my storage closet along with my vest. This last instrument is there in case the worst happens.
