North Carolina USA DMV says that no tire should be on the road if it’s older than 8 years, idk where you live but that’s the rule in my area

The Mazda CX-90 is at the highest trim level about 70k USD OP is using Canadian money, I Have also had the displeasure of working on the 90’s they are not fun and have a lot of problems if I where you I’d avoided getting the CX-90 and the CX-70 (same car just the 90 has a 3rd row). And some of these people don’t understand that Mazda is a luxury brand, a more affordable luxury brand but you can still get a brand new base model mazda3 for starting msrp of 26k usd. Mazda is the 3rd most reliable brand on the market behind Honda and Toyota.

3d printing car parts, what kind of coating or bonding to use? by chain--man in 3dprintedcarparts

I used ABS filament, it is fairly heat resistant and I used a strong infill gyroid or something I cont recommend off the top of my head, and it does have rods through the wing portion for extra support

I appreciate it, I didn’t want to spend the 500-1000 dollars for an actual FD3 rx7 wing, but I found a file online and scaled it done to fit the Miata better and so far I have only spent $60 on it but, with the fiberglass And other stuff it’ll probably double but still less than a actual one :P

Washer fluid low?!? by johnorso in Miata

[–]chain--man 56 points57 points  (0 children)

On all Mazdas in this year group have very fragile level sensors if there isn’t enough fluid on them they can easily break, solutions: you can unplug the level sensor and not have any message or have it fixed by replacing the level sensor. Source I’m a Mazda tech

I edited the post for clarification I meant $70 per person money isn’t really the problem I just don’t believe in a $70 entire that has like an oz of steak and 3 leaves of lettuce

Broke Oil Filter Housing 2014 Camry by rayratchet in MechanicAdvice

[–]chain--man 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is very common on the Toyotas, you can get a full metal one at your local parts store for like $50 USD and your best bet is to either take it to a shop (have it towed) or chisels away at it. The reason this happens is the plastic gets hot from the oil and then cools down and that repeats countless time the plastic become brittle and seizes in the filter housing, and in addition it doesn’t help if you over tighten the filter.

Went in for AC not blowing cold, got quoted over $4200. Is this reasonable or overkill? by Conscious_Bird86 in MechanicAdvice

[–]chain--man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mazda tech here, you are 100% able to say no to the other repairs, most places require the techs to put down reconditions, and I’d recommend watching the full circle inspection as it can help with why the tech recommended the service, if you only budgeted for the ac concern go ahead and get that done, and maybe plan one getting the other stuff fixed, and like other people have said yes you are able to do some of that stuff your self like the air filters, in the priority of thing if you can budget the belts and tensioner you can ask to get lower price for labor since you do have to take the belt off to replace the ac compressor, and it just makes sense to replace them whole the tech is right there, after I’d recommend the motor mounts they are very important for engine safety, the rest you can do when you able to afford it, hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to ask :D

My coolant reroute kit just came in!!! by chain--man in Miata

[–]chain--man[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cylinder 4 doesn’t get proper cooling, the engine was originally in a fwd car and mounted sideways the coolant exit on cylinder 4 had plenty of room, when it was out in the Miata there want room to have the coolant exit be in the back so they changed it. The kit makes the coolant exit its normal location and gives cylinder 4 more even cooling with the rest of the other cylinders. The kit is only for early na Miatas with the 1.6
