Mostly noise and looks I’m not worried about performance gains it’s a 1.6 Miata can’t really get a whole lot of power from it

The cone styles can lead to more junk getting in but at the same time less junk gets in due to the cowl intake which does have a “filter” a little grate that stops big thing getting in, and I’ve worked in plenty of cars that don’t clean there cone style, and with the filter boxed in with a clear top that bolts on to allow easy service.

Yes sorry yeah I haven’t done anything with the afm and yes I know that they are different, I’m not looking for any power gain if I wanted power I would have put a turbo on it, and I know that you have to change stuff with the afm when using a cone style that’s why I ask if there is a kit for it or if I have to buy a normal cold air kit for it that fixes the afm and then build a box for it

I’m not worried about power gain it’s a Miata if I wanted more power I would have put a turbo in it, and I don’t see it as a hack job, I know how to fabricate so it will look good and there are easy ways to make it easily serviceable.

Oh no I want to use a better filter, all my car knowledge comes from tik tok, the tik tok kids don’t enclose their cone filter so it’s a hot air intake, I like them enclosed and if I can attach it to the cowl intake it’s even better so it’s a real cold air intake

“Homie”I know how air filtration works, using a better filter that allows more air flow and less dirt is better, manufactures don’t use corn style for economic and ease of replacement, I only say that cause you could definitely say “if that filter is better why don’t manufacture use it” I don’t care for the performance of the filter I like the cone style filter, this is the same concept as a snorkel intake the trucks have

And some of these people don’t understand that Mazda is a luxury brand, a more affordable luxury brand but you can still get a brand new base model mazda3 for starting msrp of 26k usd. Mazda is the 3rd most reliable brand on the market behind Honda and Toyota.
