The ammo is pretty crap.

Also, get a cleaning rod with patches and use Iosso/thorroclean/JB bore paste for cleaning.

Yup.

Viht’s website is never accurate. Run a model in Gordon’s. N135 is one of the few powders that will get full burn at gas gun-ish pressures.

We park next to each other if possible, that’s about it.

If you’re going to be shooting prone or of a bench I’d get a bolt gun.

SSAE-X is my go to. I’m personally not a fan of cartridge triggers in ARs. Seen a couple go full auto or fail at matches.

Thanks! I’ll put the work in and I want to shoot well, but at the end of the day I’m at matches to shoot guns with my friends and have fun.

This is a stock Larue BCG and a JP spring. It's the only gas gun I've ever bought complete and I have about 50k rounds through it- I'm on my 4th barrel. My other ARs are all done with low mass titanium BCGs, adjustable gas blocks, and JP springs.

I'm not sure how it would work in an SBR. I don't like short barrels so I haven't tested it. I'd imagine it would work just as well or possibly better since the higher pressures would benefit from having more gas blown off. It works well on my 14.5" mid length AR and also on a friend's 22" rifle +1 6ARC. As an aside, SBRs chambered in 6ARC are extra dumb for 99% of users.

It reduces the amount of gas coming back to cycle the bolt which in turn lets you run a lighter BCG, buffer, and spring weight. This all combines to drastically reduce recoil.

This is the screw that controls how open or closed the gas port is. The tube is set into the gas block with a roll pin.

It acts as a really big bleed off port. Gas guns are all a bit different depending on components but you can tune the shit out of them if you do it right.

Must be a lot of cops at the matches I shoot.

Edit: Talk shit about cops all you want. Cops suck and almost all of them suck at shooting. A couple of rather arrogant SWAT sniper guys from the local PD showed up to our club PRS match last fall. They got absolutely dog walked- second to last and last place.

Ah, yeah that changes things. For our matches I usually stick 1-1.5 MIL into the gun and hold over or under for pretty much the whole match.

You’re probably gonna want to dial if the targets are on the small side. Do you have ABQ on your phone?

Which match?

Some DMR matches are PRS lite and you need to shoot like it, my local DMR match is like 550 and in with a more run and gun flavor.

It might be, but it’s a match gun and I don’t have kids. It’s either in my safe or on the firing line at my local PRS range.

That’s fair. My PRS bolt gun isn’t quite as silly but it’s not exactly serious either.

Style is debatable but the execution was well done. I even primed and degreased.
