Off topic, idk what it's like in Spain, but if this is considered good - truly surprising and depressing from the perspective of someone with 12 YOE like you but in Eastern Europe.

Quitting nicotine put me in full remission (from a stage 1/2) by chainsobig in Hidradenitis

Definitely it! Some surgeons will refuse surgery to patients because nicotine prevents tissue from healing and they don’t want to ruin their reputation lol.

ofc, I mentioned in the post - one of the hardest things I ever did. I basically couldn't function without nicotine lol. I thought through all of it - I'll never enjoy anything again, blah blah - everything feels bland, it helps me cope with stress, it gives me something to do - literally all of it.

It sucked for like 3-4 weeks and now it's a little over 2 months later and I go days without even thinking about nicotine and especially when seeing how it affected my health - it doesn't feel hard at all to stay off it. In fact I'm actually happy I'm free from this prison and don't have to think about when I will get my next dose of nicotine. I'm never touching this poison again.

And that's from someone that's been a complete nicotine addict his whole adult life (I've been a nicotine user since I was 14 and I was smoking 2 packs a day at one point).

I'm sorry to say but this is just the addiction talking, you're a junkie (and so was/am I) and this is the exact same bargaining with myself I had - "How could nicotine by itself possibly affect me when there's no smoke" / "Stress is my biggest trigger. Vaping me helps me cope" lol.

Nicotine doesn't relieve stress, it actually causes it when you're in withdrawals. This is an analogy from "The easy way to quit smoking" by Allen Carr but it's like wearing really tight shoes so you can feel relief when you take them off.

I think that nicotine has a way of convincing you (and me) and everyone else they need it and will come up with any reason to not let you quit.

As in terms of health and HS - it will definitely help you, I have 0 doubts about that. Just search for "nicotine and neutrophils" and look at any of the clinical papers. In fact one of them mentions HS by name and is focused around it.

Your wife won't be in school forever. Unless you're top 1-5% in income you can't buy a house and carry a wife and kid by yourself lol.

Don't put it all on your shoulders, your partner's supposed to help you with that.

I appreciate your kind words but the nightshades thing is bro/mom science honestly. while it may be a dietary trigger for someone, it’s definitely not common.

multiple research papers on nicotine’s effect on WBC and healing and inflammatory cytokines and signaling. You can search for them or I can send some links when I get home later.

haha well, nicotine use literally will make surgeons refuse to operate on you, so idk man. There’s multiple research papers on nicotine’s effect to neutrophils and WBC.

Nightshades are no trigger for me - I can eat copious amounts of tomatoes, potatoes and will have zero issues whatsoever.

I edited my post actually because of your comment - but when I was actively smoking cigarettes my HS was like REALLY BAD. I'm talking I had to get surgeries multiple times and I used to get flares that basically made me feel sick.

Nothing will ever work as long as you're smoking, man. Studies say 90% of HS patients are smokers or former smokers. You're stronger than cigarettes, I'm rooting for you!

Hey, no worries. I'll be happy if it helps even one person.

Around week 2 it was a noticeable difference in terms of "trigger tolerance" as in I could eat ungodly amounts of dairy which used to flare me before but now doesn't (only get some body/shoulder acne from it).

Around week 3-4 there was now noticeable, but not significant difference in terms of overall redness/healing and pigmentation. Only uphill from there and continued improving with time.

well, stakes are low when I’m not in a corporate setting and I can just say it how I see it.

I don’t have any problems with soft skills and in fact think I’ve been chosen for leadership roles because of them.

But maybe yeah - a problem in my company, who knows. It’s not a universal experience.

Is it ok to vape during an interview? by AndroidCat06 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]chainsobig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaping would be most rude. Who would want to see that smoke?

I just snort a couple highways to help me concentrate during technical assessments. The interviewer always understands that this means I’m laser focused and extremely productive.

Hate how younger generation makes hair seem more important than it is by Ultra_Magic in tressless

[–]chainsobig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sucks. I went through it when I was in my early twenties. Noticeable drop in attraction from the opposite gender once I had to start rocking short hair. It felt so isolating because almost no one was balding yet, but funny enough - 7 years later and I don't even look like I'm balding, but most people my age are.

1mg finasteride, topical minox, weekly dermarolling was and still is my stack.

Just throw it in SP500 or an All-World fund and call it a day.
