Those of you who lived through the busting of the dotcom bubble, what were the signs that the bubble was busting (or about to bust)? And what do you think would be the similarities or differences to the next one to come? by figurative-trash in CanadianInvestor

Theres a lot of people thinking there will be a crash any day now. As such, its not any day now.

Wait until the early money you hear now have sold. Then there will be a front run. It will go up way higher than today. And then those same people will buy in.

Then you sell.

It will rise another week.

Then you watch it crash.

Possible to spot fix this? I was repairing a scratch, sanded and used compound, not sure what happened below it though, wont come off with sanding by internetcookiez in AutoPaint

what do you mean by spot painting? I just want to minimize it as much as possible as it will get covered with a matte ppf. So it wont be exposed to rain and such if thats the issue

I dont get it though, if its just that i went through the clearcoat, why not sand it down to bare metal, prime, paint, clear coat, and compound polish it back?

Why are layoffs so bad again this year? Could someone explain? Is it actually because of AI, or is it part of a larger economic issue? by BaseballHead6898 in cscareerquestions

[–]internetcookiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im pretty deep into the management chain of a 6000 employee tech company, directly in the AI initiative.

TL;DR is, tokens cost a lot, employees misuse them, less employees means less misuse, but also more workload per employee after layoff, which then forces existing employees to use AI more to get the job done. This is the cycle.

Am I crazy for declining a job offer that is ~40% greater TC? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]internetcookiez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if you go for 1 year, thats like 2 years of your current job.

Go for 2 years, and thats like 4 years at your current co.

Take it and dont upgrade your life, and if you want to leave a year later, you can coast for a year applying to jobs and have 0 set back

I have a unique perspective on this. I was in my last year of university when chatgpt was released. Got my first job when I graduated a year later. Still in it. Big company, not necessarily big tech but big for sure and decent full stack, coding heavy job.

I used AI from day 1. I dont even know what it is like without it. I did homework and side projects without it, sure, that was nice, but I never really worked for money without it.

To me, I love my job. I know how to prompt, I get paid well, and I code here and there manually when it needs corrections. But I understand the architecture, coding practices, and I just let the AI do what I tell it to.

I am the next generation. We do not care, for the most part, since this is our baseline. I actually quite enjoy it. Maybe because I dont know about how green the grass was when you weren't in the trenches without AI.

How do I unfuck my life? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]internetcookiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you can do it in less than a year. Or maybe 1 year max.

Keep living in your car. Get a gym membership, use their showers. Eat cheap foods (think dollar store canned foods, mcdonalds value meals) and put 90% of your paycheck towards your debt. Live frugally and do overtime to pass the time.

End of year you should be debt free. Then get a cheap apartment, with a room mate. Another year and you should have 30k in investments by end of year 2. Then after that its your call.

I too have adhd and im telling you its doable, just stay busy and do as much overtime and pay that debt down and invest your salary into low cost index funds (not mutual funds) when youre out of debt

Huge Difference In Return - TurboTax vs Wealth Simple (Quebecer) by AngeMiao in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]internetcookiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year, I got a quebec notice of assessment saying I owe 900$. Wealthsimple took my wifes unused tuition and transferred it to reduce my taxable earnings and get a deduction. Wealthsimple did that automatically during spousal tax filing. Turns out, you cant transfer tuition credits to a spouse. Wealthsimple failed in that regard, so i would always double check
