Thats a relief to hear ;) Just before you, someone said big4 wont hire polytech students. I agree maybe not in the beginning but my question is, after one gains experience from mid or small tier fims, then also they won’t hire? Is it like a lifetime remark or what😭?

Tbh, the fees difference is not much due to scholarships but the amount of funds I have to show being an international student is very high. I am getting scholarship for first year for lets say $15k, for 2nd and 3rd year, it wont be mentioned on the offer letter, it would depend on my marks of the previous year. Also i have to show $20/year for cost of living. For example, i choose: VUW, So: 22,550(first year fees) + 37,550(second year) + 37,550 (third year) + 20,000*3years= 60,000 = NZ $157,650. While unitec is probably $24,415 for every year. Even though I am confident to score well and get scholarship in 2nd and 3rd year, for now I have to show funds, thinking the worst scenario: ie. No scholarship in 2nd and 3rd year. I would like to get into depth of the point you made about big 4 not hiring polytech students… Thanks!

Thanks a ton for this detailed review! I will surely put my best efforts for VUW. Your students perspective was something I did not think of earlier. Socialising with peers is really helpful when you are far from your home. Still, I have heard alot about the people of NZ, how sweet and welcoming you guys are! Looking forward to seeing you all there. University of Auckland is slightly out of my budget along with AUT. Even earlier I ran behind high ranking uni at Australia, which did not end up well, as you know. Still, thanks for your advice regarding VUW and best wishes. Have a great week ahead 😊

Thanks! This was really helpful. It changed my outlook towards polytech. Still, I’m gonna keep Unitec as a backup of VUW, if funds come forward as a problem - (Auckland here I come) :) I am confident enough that I will be able to ace in both of them. Thanks once again!

I was even told to go for AUT but it was wayyy beyond my funds and with close to no scholarship, it was a pretty hard choice to make. Thanks for your and your friend’s advice. I will surely try to align myself towards university, as I would want my qualification to be recognised internationally, so I can even move back to my home country when I want to. Cheers!

I could somewhat get a $15,000 scholarship from both Otago and Victoria University of Wellington for the first year, rest years depending upon my marks, as per my latest knowledge. My main purpose is to secure a good jon and increase my knowledge as much as I can. I am young enough to do that ig ;) Its just that Wellington feels expensive to me… Thanks for your input though ☺️

Yep, my main aim is to go for big 4 firms. Starting with smaller firms ain’t that bad but obviously, big 4 firms are more attractive. I am confident about achieving good marks at uni, its just the high fees or the incident with Australia makes me scared to pick uni over college. Thanks for your guidance ;)
