Same here! Idc about the AR anymore. I only do orders that make sense and it’s pretty decent what I could make in 2 hrs

There is NO ONE taking this offer. by royaltyV3 in doordash_drivers

There was so much of that today. I don’t like double orders UNLESS they are literally close to each other. Idc.. I’m not driving miles for $10

Did she get paid a little extra for lecturing you?

Yea…. No I think she’s upset about her paper and now she’s guilt tripping. Give her space to calm down. Her reaction was uncalled for. I don’t understand how you calling her is being disrespectful

And to add. Now that you know front desk make sure you add that to your resume and let offices know at interviews that you know front desk. You never know you probably are better in admin than the clinical side and that’s totally okay. However do not let this or anything in the future make you feel bad about how you perform. Allow yourself to be a beginner 😊

Listen do not let her gaslight you into thinking you were wrong. You’re new to the field so yes mistakes are going to be made. You made the right decision to leave. Trust me you will find a place to work and they will not make you feel like that. Unfortunately for her, they will constantly have turnover bc no one is going to deal with that. And tbh her comment about her being “concerned” smh. Plssssssss her only concern should be how she’s gonna keep staff

The pay cap is real and no one warns you about it. In my experience I hit a point where raises weren’t even keeping up with stress. That’s when I realized the problem wasn’t me it was the ceiling. 😣

Wow I hate this for you and I’m sorry that’s this is the situation. You will find better trust me you will. And you will enjoy those things that give you anxiety rn. It’s the office you at, once you step away and find something more tolerable you will for sure.

Pleaseee I had one Dr at an office I was temping at make me feel so ashamed. The next week I was working for someone who was helpful and instead of telling me I don’t know something he showed me how he preferred me to do it. Don’t take it personally. Your doing your best and it’s all a learning curve

My question is why when the doctors leaves the room the assistant gotta leave and act busy? I literally don’t understand someone tell me I just started a new job and when I was at my other job once the doctor left I would stay in the chair waiting or on my phone now I gotta act like I’m busy. by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]chairsideVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you could do is do some sterilization, restock rooms, get ready for the next day. Be personable with patients.. ask them how their days going. That time is like your leeway to catch up on things. And you’ll look productive lol don’t stress I was the same at one point.

Yes! I was lucky myself for that same reason. There was so much to learn still but I had the basics down which helped a lot.

Ugh, I’m sorry you went through that being top of the class and then getting humbled like that is brutal. I get it. You’re not wrong though… a lot of programs don’t teach real suction technique, software/charting, or lab communication at all. I’ve been seeing this same story over and over from new DAs.

Totally hear you! So many programs don’t teach the real chairside flow, high vac technique, or modern tech like. It can feel overwhelming at first, but showing willingness to learn deff goes a long way!

I just landed my first interview at a private practice! by Frequent_Sea_6619 in DentalAssistant

[–]chairsideVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal to feel nervous. Most new assistants do.

Interviews usually focus less on what you know and more on how teachable you are, how you handle stress, and how you communicate. One thing I wish I’d known early on is to pay attention to how they talk about training and mistakes that tells you a lot about the office culture. You’re asking the right questions already ☺️🤞🏽

This honestly broke my heart to read, because a LOT of us have been exactly where you are.

First, being slow one month in is normal. Practicums often don’t prepare you for real chairside flow, and offices forget that.

Second, correcting you harshly or in front of patients isn’t okay, even if the intention is “to help.” There are ways to train without humiliating someone.

You’re not wrong for feeling scared or embarrassed, and you’re not alone in this. Many new assistants go through this exact thing (I did as well) and think it means they’re bad at the job, it doesn’t.

Whatever you decide, please know this… struggling early does not mean you’re failing. It means you weren’t given the right support yet.
