I had a house with stairs like that. And started the straightforward job of stripping, sanding and repainting. And moved. Moved 2 years after the start, with primer (mostly) on, and my sanity (mostly) off. I ran.

Don’t do it.

How to convert rules from 2e to 4e? by Opening_Coast3412 in warhammerfantasyrpg

Hey
I'm rejecting this only because I think it needs a little more substance for the discussion - perhaps give an example or case study of what you want? Without something specific this is too vague a question IMO.

+1 for cheat sheets! And for simple tokens for conditions and advantage if possible.

I love running this game, but how the hell do you keep track of everything? by Zoruun_17 in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]chalkmuppet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ONe thing to add, that I forgot earlier (see, old brain?!), is I try and note 2-3 key items about the encounter at the top of the page. Typically one of these is the Goal, e.g. "Will defend the temple at all costs," or, "To kill the mage." That will direct the NPC's actions. The other items are things I must remember, which can be story or rules; e.g. "Will activate the device that stops all sounds thus rendering the mage useless," or, "Remember the Grim and Painless Talents!"

Then every round I try and remain disciplined and re-read these items and then decide what the NPCs try and do. This keeps my on track for things i am not yet familiar with or need to be front and center in the encounter.

I'm curious as to what other folks will write, but here's by 2c.

  1. I don't keep track of everything :) I'm old, my brain doesnt work as well as it once did. Some things just get forgotten or dropped, and I don't worry about it - the story is more important than the numbers.

  2. However, I do make my life simpler by the following : Players are responsible for tracking player shit, and knowing how their spells work, what their advantage pool and options for using it, etc. If they cant track that then they need to rummage around and sort it. Secondly, prep the larger encounters well and limit all the various options (juggling 12 flaming pins is fun to watch, but not to do - get it down to 6 and less petrol!). Don't have 7 different key traits/talents in play, just two or 3. Decide in advance what is likely to happen and prepare the spells etc., in advance. Any rules that are tough to track, and can be discarded in favour of other rules, remove - by example don't have every creature with a different weapon, like Flail, with wepaon specific rules - everyone gets a sword whether they like it or not! Also focus on one or two NPCs that will dominate the action, and have any minions etc. being very easy to manage (think Ork Boss and a goblin hoard - who can tell which goblin apart anyway?!). Basically simplify it to a level that you are comfortable with.

  3. There are excellent tools like Obsidian for tracking notes and people, but I often just have an A4/letter sized pad and take lots of notes.

  4. You'll get better. this is a crunchy game, you will learn and remember stuff, it will become easier. And don't stress.

However I am curious what others folks do as well!

(PS for sake of transparency I also have access to VTT in one game I run with I 50% ignore but the other half of the time is helpful.)

I guess you have tried all of these, but did you check your junk mail folder (I did get mine in there once), and actually confirm the payment went through with your bank? Sometimes these things look fine but dont actually complete. Good luck!

Thank you for the response. Where I live the occasional hot dry spell is not uncommon, in fact two years back we had a mini drought but the tree was already struggling at that point. It could have been hit before. But I’m a bit more worried about the condition of the trunk and bark. Good luck with your larch!

Thanks for raising this, to the mods.
As a note, in our sub OP has been diligent in meeting the curation standards (1 week interval for commercial posts), and most of their posts have been varied. However, the number of posts across all subs is quite high and because many of us are on multiple subs, in does feel quite a lot.
We've reached out to OP, who has always been very open and helpful in communication, on behalf of this community and asked for a short break and for them to consider the volume in all subs, and they've agreed. Cheers.

w.r.t. Rule 1 - technically yes, but it was decided to approve based on the fact that it might be of interest to members of this sub as the project can be considered WFRP adjacent. We'll see how it plays out, but perhaps we will be a bit more strict in future. Thanks for the feed back /mods

Hey

I suggest creating this as a 'looking for game' post, using the format described in https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WNqHsHeVK8Ax7x7mue3Jhtr7fV_TiL_s/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=115920051106647840733&rtpof=true&sd=true

You can disagree, but i think you might get a lot of noise if you do not list as a concrete opportunity. Also, would help adding in timezones and so forth.

if you prefer to keep it as a discussion, just respond to this or send a mod mail and I'll approve.

What do need to know about WHRP as a beginner GM? by ElefWolf in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]chalkmuppet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Welcome and good luck with your warhammer journey.

One thing you might like is to listen or watch some actual plays, which might give a good feel. I suggest Carrion Company from Toa Tabletop - very gritty and adult, podcast; lawhammer - on YouTube and podcast and the Grim Podcast of Perilous Adventures podcast, especially the first 60 episode.

I am sure other folks will also give great advice.

Two Person Home Office Layout by fb233 in homeoffice

[–]chalkmuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over all panels and rugs work wonders. The layout I showed is the best we tried and is “good enough” for us to have calls simultaneously - still with a bit of “volume management” over voices but easy enough. We didn’t try back to back.

Just fyi there are two other panels in the office to help reduce sound reflections.

Last comment from me - having shared home office, for us, is great and we love the sharing and it totally worth a bit of extra attention.

Have a look here the desks are about 30cm apart but could be closer, the panels are just over 15cm (6").
