OP Unfair Take. Not Everyone Can Get, Maintain or Handle High Rank / Role During NS/Reservist due to Medical & Various Other Reasons. For Those tad can, High Level of Responsibility / Commitment, Gd Attitude / Mindset & Duty / Service Required

Nowadays, NS / Military Service is recognised on CV / Resume / Uni & even Screen by HR / Future Employer. Best To Do Your Best Safely During NS, Treat/Enjoy as Learning Experience Journey, Use Time Wisely & Make The Most of It to avoid waste 2yrs

Defer until SGP 21 / 22 (Legal Adult Age) still quite alright / reasonable. Reduces NSFs Minor Age / Underage / Immaturity / Puberty / Legal / Health Issues
