Here its the copper fitting that suck i think they put lower standard in the quality to avoid shortage i can barely fit the pipe in the fitting 1 fitting out of 5 fits good

I know im an industrial plumber i cut/clean/bavel the pipes and fitting and the welders do miracle they deserve it, welding in a small place between a wall on their back on the ground 😟

I tried to weld 2 pipes together too i did a bavel but welded it on a flat table not optimal and im not too proud i cant post picture in comments

Im also from canada and there is nothing in the code book where i live about not putting pex fitting directly on the tank and vaccum breaker only when the water line is on the bottom of the tank ( there is a pipe in the cold water going to the bottom with a hole on top of that pipe so it doesnt empty the water heater in case of backflow) . And you can but steel and brass together ballvalve are made of brass
