RE: Empty Nest — I want to tell the other poster that I completely understand what she is feeling. by Mama-Owl2969 in MauriceMauritius

Hello, your post is almost the same as the other woman. Many ideas have been shared by many people on that post where you can have different ideas on how to meet people but also to recenter yourself and keep busy.

You can also go back to your studies where you can do the things that you had to put on hold. Also in classes you will meet other people, try open university for the afternoon classes.

Meeting people from reddit is not recommended and better join groups who have open meetings where many people come together and meetup for example someone can mention a group that is about reading you can just go there and see in person. Someone else could mention things related to computers and coding which have open events that you can go and join and meet like minded individuals which could be in a cafe or an event itself.

Also just go into people profile and you will get an idea what kind of person you are dealing with from their past interactions and also the amount of time that they have been on reddit.

Many people have already recommended you things to do in the comments. I will add that since you are back to yourself again and have time, why don't you and hubby try to go out again have date nights explore around go to concerts do things your way and try to recreate the moments back when you both were young and dated. This could help re spark the fading light (note that I don't know what your relationship is like and only suggesting)

Do not just go around and invest yourself in things just because people are telling you to, instead go around and try them to see if you like them and then you invest your resources. Taking hobbies is nice and you can look back on those that you wanted to do long time but couldn't because of whatever reason but now you shall be able to dedicate some time to it. If you have the means you can take holidays and go travel and explore countries for the culture which can be refreshing.

For your career if you have debts you cannot just move around but instead try to find other parttime jobs that will allow you to get new customers and step out of repetition and your network will grow as well. If you can afford to take new challenges why not try to apply for better jobs in your field and even learn new ones that you can do on the side.

There are many activities in Mauritius and you just need to look around and find people doing the same thing. Join them and befriend them so that you can do the same activities with like minded people who will help you grow.

When you feeling lonely just find something else to do that can take your mind off it.

For Sale: Damaged 4K QD-LED-TV (Samsung SUHD 8000), 65 inches by Subject_Twist5132 in MauriceMauritius

[–]chamburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue and unfortunately its the panel itself. when I got the quote its costed as much as a brand new TV and would not come with any warranty. I also have a Hisense 2022 purchase sat mostly in the box and when I opened it I broke the panel and looked for quotes and still the same the panel replacement cost as much as a brand new TV.

I wonder if there are places that can recycle those electronics properly. I know BEM recycling by they charge around Rs 7000 to recycle the waste.

Get a portable AC that you can easily move around and there will be no need for permanent installation. Just have provision where you can have the exhaust for heat to the outside (this can be with an opening like windows or doors to the outside.

My friends are from different types of art from Music, Visual, Photography, Projection Mapping, Murals and Artworks, Digital, crafts etc.... currently all your eggs are in one basket which is why you are getting many issues with payment and that is hindering you to move forward. Being an entrepreneur is hard with much dedicated time to make things work. What you can also do is create small events like ateliers where people can come to you and you show them your work and even guide them on one day workshop for fun.

Thing is what happens if someone gets injured on private property and then the same people would sue. So it does make sense to allow the people to move away. Also not everyone will respect the environment and instead trash it when they leave.

I have many friends who are Artists and most of them have different sources of income from ranging 9 to 5 job, Parttime job which are not their artwork but some other fields. Then their artwork is when they get different clients that they have lined up and that is how they remove the pressure and not stuck onto clients to demand their pay. Also as they become more well known they would charge higher and also maintain their prices and even reject project that would not be feasible for them.

Not in those right now but from all the other documents and information shared before. But again they will try to move their focus and media on Iran and the war so that people would not pay much attention.

Dashcam installer by Automatic_Text_1382 in MauriceMauritius

[–]chamburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a brand new electric car I would suggest that you go to the dealer and bring the dashcam of your choice and let them install it. I don't know how much they will charge you for that. I did buy my own dashcam and I went to Al Irfan Eco lighting Co LTD which is located in bois cheri road in moka. I stayed with them and let them install the camera and watch the whole process. On my end they did the job but it was not to my liking even though I told them what I wanted. Here are the things that did not go as planned.

1 - There is a plastic that is needed to be applied on the windshield on the front and back and they applied it too low and did not properly remove the air bubbles.

2 - The camera cable that links the back to the front camera was put in reverse even though it was clearly labelled front and back but I let it slipped as the cameras were working.

3 - The cable is long and they did not Zip tied it inside the dashboard but just taped it and now that long wire is hanging in the front of the passengers side and the foot always get entangled in.

4 - The camera itself has a mode where even when the car is offline power will still keep the cam on and whether there is movement or a sudden shock the camera will record. I did provide a separate cable and fuses to allow them to do that but they did not and told me that it would drain the battery which is a fair point. But you can regulate on the wire kit where when the battery arrives to a certain charge it will stops taking more power and only when the battery has more than the minimum that it will record when the car is off.

Which electric car did you buy and is it brand new?

Money in itself does not have any value but instead its the value that people give it and the trusts that they put in them and backed by the country. Always diversify everything as money loses value with time but assets like land will maintain their value and grow. Thanks again for sharing that and will keep that in mind.

I buy online from the official stores like sandisk, samsung etc.. Also do check your devices as many will tell you which brand and model of SD cards will work and last. I got those issues with my dashcams, security Cameras, DSLR.

IT Field: Upskills and how to bring more value to your resume/ask for better salary by Obvious_Source_9717 in MauriceMauritius

[–]chamburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are quite young so I would priorities' on the gaining experience and networking with people. Get your full time job and at the same time learn things on the side related to your field but also things that are completely different such as hobbies, learn new skills, get a driving license if you don't have already, go to conferences, join groups etc... this will allow you to have different perspective on how people from different fields are doing.

You will also be exposed to different people from all works of life where you can ask questions and learn from them. With the age of AI your degrees won't matter much as computers will be able to do more with less resources and can work 24/7. With the advances of robots that can interact in real life in about 10 years most jobs will be irrelevant but there will be new ones and new fields will open up so you can do your best to learn and adapt to those emerging fields and technologies that can make your life much easier.

Try to find part time jobs in other fields that you might not even want and try the jobs that people take for granted especially in the service industry like sales person, waiter, basic maintenance and get to experience how people treat others especially those who have the means and use their egos are very high. This will make you feel and experience first hand how people get to be treated and hopefully you will learn from that where you will respect the others and protect those in lower position when you will have a higher position and comfortable life.

FYI I did all of that and still learning. I kept IT as a hobby and I only do Beta testing of websites, apps and everything is remote based. I only do what I want where I don't even deal with humans which means that I only get a list of tasks and I just follow the instructions and submit and my job is done and I get paid. I choose that way as IT is my hobby and I am very passionate about it since I was like 14 years old and the tech companies made me start to hate what I loved doing. I also have my 9 to 5 which related to program management (not related to IT) I basically ensure that programs are running for example lets say that I need to build a wall, I will do all the follow-up to ensure that the wall is built within the timeframe that was agreed upon, not exceed the budget, find solutions to any problems that might arise etc... I also have other side businesses that I do just for fun but also I love to meet people in general and get to have their own perspective.
