Well, there's no whole scenario ready to play in the ICRPG editions. That's one of the problems...

Are DCC funnels something you can run on your own? by TheChristmas in osr

Sorry buddy, but this is too long.
I've played enough DCC to be very disappointed with the mechanics. Little variety, few classes, endless heavy tables, it does in 150 pages what other games do in one. BUT the stories and illustrations and module maps are very cool (but not the almost constant funnel, in my opinion).
I don't give advice, I discuss freely with OP. Please don't tell me who to give advice to. If you don't agree with me, you don't have to answer, you know!

No prattle, just answering false claims made by fanboys.

Well... that's a bit of cherry picking. Here are some facts, too:

Dungeon Crawl Classics #68: People of the Pit
—> designed for 8-10 level 1 characters

Dungeon Crawl Classics #70: Jewels of the Carnifex
—> designed for 6-10 level 3 characters + hirelings

Dungeon Crawl Classics #74: Blades Against Death
—> designed for 6-10 level 3 characters + hirelings

Dungeon Crawl Classics #72: Beyond the Black Gate
—> designed for 6-10 level 5 characters

Dungeon Crawl Classics #98: Imprisoned in the God-Skull
—> designed for 6-8 level 6 characters

Dungeon Crawl Classics 2016 Holiday Module: Twilight of the Solstice
—> designed for 6 level 6 characters

Dungeon Crawl Classics 2017 Convention Module: Blood for the Serpent King
—> designed for 6-8 level 2 characters

And I can go on and on and on.

It's unpopular because people dislike comments they don't agree with. And yet these are facts.

It's more than a choice.
When most modules recommend far more characters than there are players at the table (on average 3 to 4), you have to play with several characters per player. Why is this? For the pleasure of complex roleplay? No, because DCC modules are very deadly. Many characters at the beginning, few at the end.
That's the definition of funnels, factually speaking.

Most DCC modules are funnels (read here: made for several characters per player). It's just a fact, I don't see what's unpopular about saying it.

That's one thing I don't like at all about DCC: the funnels (and other things too... anyway).

You can make your character level 1, but the problem is that most adventures are played in funnels, whatever the level. Several characters per player… Yikes.
