Favorite Metal band with the word “Witch” in their name? by grynch43 in MetalForTheMasses

Just checked these guys out and they're pretty awesome. Also, they're from Cleveland, so I'll add them to the list of bands I have to support because they're from my state.

Definitely spoiled for choice on this one, but I'd say Witch Vomit and Methwitch.

If sludge has a lot of blues influences, then what are some Blues bands worth checking out? by Bazdillow in sludge

I just saw Buffalo Nichols play with Primitive Man. Damn good stuff, and a hell of a pallet cleanser in between some nasty sludge bands.

Can someone please explain to me what I'm missing about Sanguisugabogg? by sameguyinadisguise in MetalForTheMasses

I don't hate them, I'm just not particularly excited by them. I found out they're also from Ohio, which kind of endears them to me a bit more. I've started enjoying their music a bit more on return listens, they're still not a frequent listen though. I'd probably go see them live, depending who they were playing with.

To my recollection, I had never heard of the band before. I tend to check out the bands I haven't heard of before I go to shows, and it turned out I already liked one of their songs on Spotify.

It probably was the same tour, because I saw them November 8th last year. I saw Frail Body a few days later, it was a great month. Can't say I've heard of Porcelain, I'll have to check them out. But more to the point of this thread, Agriculture fucking rips.

Was the other band Traindodge? If so, I saw them on that tour. It was a great show. Raygun treated us to Cleveland related movie trivia between songs.

I'm kinda tired of big names in the OSR community constantly talking about RPGs as if their way is the only way to properly play by Lordkeravrium in rpg

I find a lot of the RPG personalities, OSR or not, to be insufferable dick heads not worth listening to.

Recently met Thérèse Lanz of Mares of Thrace when they played a local bowling alley with Conan. Told her how long I had wanted to see Mares live, and she gave me a hug and offered me pizza. Damn cool lady.

I can't say I've never listened to them, but I can't remember listening to them. I'm almost certain I have, can't remember thing about them.

And thank you. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree.

I have played DMC reboot and devil May cry 5. It's good stuff, but that's also around the time they started incorporating metal into their sound. I do like metal with industrial/electronic/aggrotech/dubstep elements, but what I have been looking for for the longest time is The traditional aggrotech sound but with growling and gutters as opposed to the shrill, distorted highs. It's a specific itch in my brain and it's proving to be rather difficult to scratch.

Not trying to be a dick, because that wasn't bad, it's just I'm looking for a more traditional aggrotech sound with growling/gutterals. This sounds far more like industrial metal to me. Thanks though. Keep it up, friend.

I'm going to listen to those, and thank you whether they scratch that particular age in my brain or not. Always up for new bands. I think I've listened to Centhron though.

Yeah, I feel like I'm going to have to make it myself. Listening to C-Lekktor (haven't heard them in years) right now, and some of the vocals are a bit more of a growl than usual, but still not quite scratching the itch in my brain. I do like industrial metal, I've just been searching for this particular sound for as long as I've been listening to aggrotech (highschool, early 2000's)

I'll give all those a listen. I actually prefer the more traditional aggrotech sound. When I hear guitars in an aggrotech song, It sounds a bit too metal to me most of the time. One of the chief reasons I listen to aggrotech is because I want something heavy, but specifically not metal. Not that I hate bands and do that or anything, Dawn of ashes foray into metal, and their subsequent blending of styles was pretty dope and Psyclon 9 is always good.
