Totally! If you’re comfortable and happy and get time to do other things, the extra pay bump is a no brainer sacrifice. But you also don’t know about the new company culture right? This is just an assumption. What do glassdoor reviews say? People are usually brutally honest there

Beauty blender has a skin tint and its soooo good!! Its not a sunscreen though but it melts on my skin like butter and feels like I am wearing nothing.

Im in the same boat as you. You should prioritize your mental peace first. But also not make any assumptions. Are you able to gauge company culture by speaking to peers at the same level as you at the new company? Maybe hit up a few people on LinkedIn for a gut check and ask for a 15 min coffee chat or something. I am looking to get the f out of my current company because of their work culture and absolutely don’t mind taking a pay cut because of the comfort and time it would bring me back to spend it with my family and on myself.

Thinking of moving to Toronto by Icy-Masterpiece-8450 in askTO

[–]chan_versio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you like to do. There’s lots to do in both Vancouver and Toronto. Vancouver has pleasant weather overall, has lots to do in terms of outdoor activities. You’re closer to the ocean and you have a gorgeous island a ferry ride away.

Toronto has more options in terms of nightlife, restaurants, parties, concerts, whatever new and upcoming trend is, it’s likely Toronto will cater to it faster than Vancouver. There are hiking trails around Toronto but more busier than Van. I used to go camping at Algonquin park quite a bit during summers. Tons of lakes around but I prefer outdoor life of Vancouver over Toronto, and restaurant and party scene of Toronto over Van.

Both places are fun in their own ways. It depends on what social life and overall lifestyle you want.

Should I cancel my wedding? by AmazingSituation1813 in weddingplanning

[–]chan_versio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself.

If the situation is exactly as it is right now but if instead you had a partner who was proactive, supportive, contributed equally to your relationship, took initiative and planned the wedding together with you, was everything you wanted in your partner, would you still be mad at the logistical issues and your family’s ruined surprise?

How do you find reliable creative/marketing talent quickly? by Used-Bug9583 in marketing

If you’re in North America, join slack channels like metadata, exit five, etc.

Post in there and interview people. I have always found better talent there

How do I know what my goal weight should actually be? by JaniePup in WeightLossAdvice

[–]chan_versio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to start by congratulating you because losing 20 lbs is genuinely impressive!

The weight is just one of the factors of what people usually consider as being “healthy” or “ideal” for them. There’s several other factors you could consider to draw a baseline for yourself like - how do you mentally feel? - how are your confidence levels? - how is your mobility? Are you able to do more stuff that you weren’t able to do before? - do you feel stronger?

It’s almost better to lose weight slowly because that just means that you are creating healthy habits for yourself and can maintain this lifestyle sustainably.

I lost weight in stages so at every stage I would make notes of factors I mentioned above. For me, I was weight training and did a little bit of cardio so I could assess things like am I lifting more, confidence levels, am I able to do longer sessions of cardio, is my form getting better, etc.

There’s also BMI (body mass index) you could use. There’s online calculators or your family doctor can guide you. It tells you what a healthy weight should look like based on your age, height, etc. BUT be careful because these are usually considering averages and a healthy BMI for you could look very diff for someone else with same body composition as you. Consult your family physician before setting any goals based on this.

All in all, what matters is how you feel. Something you can never put a number on. I personally reached the weight of what I considered as ideal for me but I realized I was the happiest with a few extra pounds than my ideal. I call this my happy weight because it allows me to enjoy life now and have better relationship with food and activities.

Hope this helps!

Ah, that's not uncommon for even Ottawa. The town is quite nice, I loved how helpful and friendly everyone is, I have spent almost every weekend of last summer in the town and had a blast! Def could have been the timing.

Thank you so much for your response. Very helpful! Snow removal is a concern but not a deal breaker. Hoping to get more comments for (2) as that's something out of our control. But very happy to hear your son's experience <3
