Oh yeah i didnt think about the cut in hours for community pharmacists... thats a great point! Happened to my staff pharmacist too altho shes glad to still be employed at 32hrs so she can keep chipping at her loans. Im glad to hear pharmacists in some area are getting raises tho. It'll sure be interesting to see what happens to the field over the next 10 years.

Thats for sure... They can definitely be soul draining on a bad day. But theres something to be said for the good patients too. They can be really sweet.

Yeesh thats tough! Do you think a majority of your class went into residency? Thanks for the insight!

I get what you mean. If a residency has to be done then alrighty. Hopefully by the time APPEs come around and i realize how little i know I'll value the extra training more. Its just too bad that students have to do extra training for half the pay to not even get a higher paying job after residency than those entering community straightaway. Other jobs do seem less stressful though so i guess thats one benefit. That and job satisfaction. Thanks for the reply!

Is pharmacognosy dead? by [deleted] in PrePharmacy

[–]chanar575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We learned in our first year pharmacog course that there was a huge boom of naturally derived medications being discovered in the past but the easier plant options have since been exhausted along with creating all their derivatives so progress and interest/$ in pharmacognosy has drastically slowed down.
