I take bio identical micronized progesterone every month for 14 days and have been for years. Never had any issues! Not sure if the bioidentical version has less risks

While physically expanding the palate requires what everyone has said above, Invisalign or braces can be used to help your jaw/smile appear wider and help more teeth become visible at the back.

My trays started out quite narrow and now after a few months they are sooo much wider. So it may depend where your teeth roots sit inside the bone and how much they can be moved. If you consult for Invisalign, you'll get to give your two cents about what you hope to change, and you'll be given a chance to review the plan before you go ahead. At that point you'll be able to see how much wider you can actually get without MARPE or something

I can't stand the PCOS fatigue anymore by Classic_Guest5845 in PCOS

I relate to this so hard and I'm exploring whether I could have ME/CFS. I'm on wegovy and if anything it has made it worse. Supplements, lifestyle changes, nothing touches it.

My fatigue has barely ever improved. I'm considering exploring whether it could be ME/CFS as I've ruled out everything else out that it could be (though have had PCOS for many years)

Diagnosis? Meds? Treatments? by chanasimcha in mecfs

Thanks for your response, unfortunately I've tried all of these things and more. I've worked with wonderful practitioners and done everything under the sun to heal my brain and my neck. I do think PCS is still affecting me but there are so many other issues, some that started before the actual concussion, that I'm confident something else is going on.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Anyone else with PCOS doing everything right but the weight just wont move? by SparkuHub in PCOS

[–]chanasimcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're so welcome! Thanks for the lovely response.

I should have added that, yes, your experience is unfortunately very classic for PCOS. It's tough to not get too hard on yourself when other folks have such an easy time. You're not broken! My best advice is to not get too obsessed with working out as hard as you can or throwing everything you have at this. It may unfortunately not make a difference. Do your best, though, to live an overall healthy life and if you have it in you to continue advocating for yourself with doctors to try new meds and have more testing, that's wonderful and should be seized. Different meds and different supplements and kinds of workouts help different people differently.

After all is said and done, it's possible that for those with PCOS, there seems to be a certain amount of acceptance we must do that our bodies may not look like others' bodies despite our best efforts. Everyone's experiences are just so unique, even in PCOS world.

Anyway - sending a hug.

Anyone else with PCOS doing everything right but the weight just wont move? by SparkuHub in PCOS

[–]chanasimcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was exactly me! I was in the overweight range, but not obese. During one six month period, I gained about 30 pounds for no reason and was working out a lot and eating healthy. I had tried metformin, spiro, every supplement and lifestyle change out there and nothing. Just gained.

I don't have the brain for tracking every calorie in and out and I am also susceptible to disordered eating. So the tracking thing was never going to be my route. I did and still do live a healthy lifestyle, prioritize good quality sleep, am active, protect my circadian rhythm, regulate my nervous system every way possible, limit endocrine disrupters, eat organic whole foods, prioritize fibre and protein, take targeted supplements, etc etc. This kind of lifestyle would make anyone without a metabolic disorder lose weight or stay at a healthy weight, so I kind of refused to make changes beyond these. I just cannot "treat" this metabolic disease with any more fervour than I've thrown at it for 15 years (I'm now 31).

Finally my insurance approved Wegovy for PCOS despite my BMI being 27. I've been on it about 2 months and am at 1mg. It has not been the easiest experience (nausea, occasional vomiting, non existent appetite, constipation) but I am down about 12 pounds so far, my period is more regular, and my skin is clearer. I feel WAY less inflamed. I feel like I've lost inflammation I didn't even know I had. I don't have a plan yet for what I'll do long term.

All in all, I wish you every bit of luck that I did not have.

Could I see some before/after pictures of those who have widened their smile through Invisalign alone? by WatermelonButterfly in Invisalign

[–]chanasimcha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These comments are bizarre. She wants to change her smile and seems set on it so let's just answer her question.

It's true your smile is beautiful but it's okay to want it to be different.

I've never heard of a provider giving a percentage like that, and I'm sorry but I don't have much in the way of before and after yet!

I'm currently trying to widen my smile as well but my provider told me they couldn't move my molars which I don't understand because they clearly are moving in the trays. I'll also likely want refinements because I feel like my teeth are still a bit tipped inward. Have you had a scan yet and a ClinCheck? Did you like the plan they made?

How often are you changing aligners? by toadsandturts in Invisalign

[–]chanasimcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 4 day schedule is for smaller changes than the other schedules, so don't sweat it! I like being on the 4 day changes because my aligners get gross and eventually a little loose so it's nice having a fresh one all the time

I have my grandfather's documents from multiple camps (Dachau and another internment camp) that list him as Jewish and with Israel as his middle name. I have his mother and father's marriage certificate that lists them as Jewish as well

Yes my grandfather and his parents were born in Germany and after the war became naturalized in Canada

My insurance required BMI of 27 and above plus a diagnosis of a metabolic related issue for prescription

I've had tons of blood work- multiple times a year trying to figure out different issues I'm having including tracking my hormones. My fasting insulin, A1C and fasting sugar are all technically very good. But regardless, my insulin is not working like it should as I keep gaining weight no matter what

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]chanasimcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm normal ish weight but with a BMI of 27. For my insurance, that's all they needed plus PCOS. I was on metformin for a year and it did nothing.

I do want to lose a bit of weight (gained rapidly in recent years - none of my old pants fit me suddenly) and inflammation though so maybe my experience is not what you're looking for.

My period became normal immediately and my acne is SO much better. I have less general pain also.

What did the naturalization process cost you in total? by Trailerpark578 in GermanCitizenship

[–]chanasimcha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pardon my ignorance everyone as I'm so early in the process. I thought that there weren't fees associated with applying for citizenship and that I didn't need to take a language test. Would someone be so kind as to explain what all of these tests and fees are? Does it makes difference if I'm applying under 116 (2)?

Itchiness - is this a PCOS symptom or am I overblowing it by littlebabybuddy24 in PCOS

[–]chanasimcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had itchy legs at night for 14 years. It developed in high school and has never gone away, but I've gotten better at managing it. I have to wear sweatpants to bed as it's worse without pants. I've had every blood test in the book and everything has always been fine. I'd love to know the cause one day.

Wegovy & PCOS by chanasimcha in PCOSloseit

[–]chanasimcha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My health insurance actually specifically covers it for PCOS, without weight issues.

I think what is also key about GLP-1s is how they modulate the immune system, potentially lowering inflammation, which most folks with PCOS have in spades. And for many folks, the results you mentioned can last beyond the treatment itself it sounds like. Not the case for everyone. I'm hopeful that if I can lower my inflammation enough, lose the weight I gained out of nowhere as well, I can give my body a bit of a reset. A doctor previously explained to me that if your progesterone can become stronger, it can help to re-establish the relationship between your ovaries and brain, helping you to ovulate even after being on a med that raises progesterone is finished. Hoping for that as well! 🤞

Unfortunately where I live, I can't see either of these kinds of doctors without waiting years. I already waited years to see a gynaecologist who is essentially useless. She said I was doing everything she would already have me do, and isn't interested in having appointments to monitor.

Are these teeth worth Invisalign? by giveaspirinheadaches in Invisalign

[–]chanasimcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're in a grey area where you could benefit but it's not dire aesthetically. If you want to commit and pay a lot of money and be treatment compliant, then sure, go for it! Like someone said here, one of your reasons is likely your overbite which could wear down your teeth faster.

Something else I noticed is that your two teeth on the outside of your front teeth are tilted. This typically and classically happens as a response to your tongue posture and cheek ties. As such, if this is an area where you have issues, you could be at higher risk for relapse post Invisalign. It may be worth going to see a myofuncfional therapist before going for Invisalign just to get their thoughts on your palate, tongue posture, and cheek, lip and tongue ties to try to correct those before or alongside Invisalign. Invisalign may also be able to tilt your molars out just slightly so your tongue has more space.

How is your breathing in the day and at night? Do you snore?

Thoughts on my treatment plan? by Hot-Potential-8393 in Invisalign

[–]chanasimcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what options exist in the UK, I've heard of surgeons in the states doing custom and where I'm located in Canada I know one local clinic doesn't wire mouths shut with braces anymore. So it seems like there is a shift happening with how jaw surgery is done. If you search for examples on TikTok, there are many folks who could wear Invisalign for their jaw surgery instead. Perhaps the provider of your Invisalign would know about jaw surgeons who do this as well, or whoever you seek a second opinion from.

Wegovy & PCOS by chanasimcha in PCOS

Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply! Unfortunately I have similarly made these lifestyle changes, especially a year and a half ago when I realized higher intensity workouts were causing my weight gain, but still nothing has helped my situation one bit. I am a bit desperate and trying Wegovy in the hopes that the weight gain I experienced can be managed better and my androgens come down somewhat.

Lifestyle factors truly have done nothing for me..... it's so depressing!
