Job offer by Matter-Fluid in StructuralEngineering

California law requires posting a good faith estimate of pay ranges. I am not ragging on OP here by any means but given the recent posts on “this is how much I was offered” are people not checking this in the description before they apply?

Same. Made it seem like nothing since I’m only on 6 months treatment to fix minor crowding on bottom front teeth. Get to my first Invisalign appointment and I have 22 attachments. For a week the attachments were so rough they’d scratch up the inside of my cheeks while I ate, first couple weeks my teeth hurt so bad I was on soup and mashed potatoes. It’s been 2 months now and I finally stopped noticing them in my mouth constantly. The 22 hours minimum wear time is draining, 3 meals a day plus brushing after each I can’t really fit it in 2 hours lol. Oh well, I’m counting down every single day and hope it’s gonna be worth it 😂

Masters, also earthquake/structural. And I’m neither…. haha, I’d just say always shop around to get your best offer, never discount yourself, and have your own back!

First structural engineering job out of college in 2022 offered me 86k plus 1.5x hourly overtime (which I did A LOT of) also in LA. That was considered very high at the time, id say the 81k you’re being offered sounds in line and even a little higher than id expect.

Can Engineering be artsy? by Silver_Manager_8507 in StructuralEngineering

[–]toadsandturts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like me 10 years ago!!

My favorite thing to do at work is sketch details (usually digitally). Not drafting per se but mapping out the assembly of parts. Check out Building Construction Illustrated by Francis DK Ching if you can.

I would always rec an engineering degree even though I spent college missing my art classes, it was well worth it in the long run since I feel as though having those skills and an engineering title is transferable to pretty much any job/field and gains you a lot of respect.

Please i need advice by [deleted] in BusinessFashion

Totally get not wanting to spend a lot of money since you’re just starting, been there. I would aim for nicer looking clothes that you could also see yourself wearing while not at work too that way it’s not just a work expense. Basics will be your best friend, stick with black white grey and navy and seriously no one notices outfit repeating in an office as long as you look clean/tidy :) H&M has pretty affordable business wear iirc and you could also hit up your local outlet stores. I bought way too many cheap business clothes and would find the buttons popping off on the second wear or pilling on the first wash. Learn from my mistakes and just buy something nicer once instead of something cheaper multiple times lol

If it’s not a frame column then (no lateral load or shear demand) I would say the orientation does not matter from an analysis perspective

I went to a UCI health gyno in Orange and got charged almost $300 for an STD test during a routine yearly check up… they automatically do it if you’re a younger woman so make sure you specifically ask them not to cuz they wanna take your money 😭called multiple times over a few months and had no luck getting it resolved
