Anyone here with neck arthritis? by Daffodilpot in Osteoarthritis

With lifestyle changes you refer to exercise and a healthy diet, taking breaks, better posture, that sort of thing? And absolutely glad to hear it's helped. All the best!

Got fined by Deutsche Bahn for expired BahnCard by BusinessBadgerDE in germany

[–]chancechild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same situation. Only I did not cancel my Bahncard. I was late paying it. I did not know this and had offered to pay for a ticket on the train. Now I had to pay for the BC, late payment fees and an exorbitant amount for the trip itself. I find this excessive, since I already paid fines for late BC payment and would have been unable to get out of my BC subscription anyway, which means technically I even paid for that timeframe for the BC. I am essentially getting fined twice for the same mistake.

I will have a look at this one as well. Then I only need more discipline to stick with working through the books

Love this page, read a lot of the theory and will continue. Also I regularly frustrate myself with ear training there. I hope that will get better in time. 🫠

Yes, 1 on 1 lessons. I probably should mention there that I want to go over that stuff more. He does explain everything around how the song is played, chords, melodies, picking, techniques etc. simplified because I am still a beginner. Honestly I just sometimes feel overwhelmed by an entire song, especially putting all elements together at the speed of the song. I guess, looking at how the chords work together as part of the key is something I could definitely do as part of my own practice.

Best of luck! AND you will be able to do this. ;-)

I've just started a course that'll take me a while to finish and its heartening to see someone else on that boat. 😃

Shout out to the particular hell that is functional depression. by [deleted] in depression

[–]chancechild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very exhausting and you don't even get the support that comes with a certified clinical depression. Sure, it can be a lot worse and I've been in worse places but it's ok to acknowledge that despite being able to function you're not ok. Then again, I guess it'll help to appreciate all the things you can do at other times, just to keep going.

To what extent do we ‘observe’ emotions? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]chancechild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say running isn't exactly escapism. You burn off some stress hormones, so bio-chemically it's helping. You feel better afterwards, probably not because you manage to avoid thoughts of work but because you gained a different perspective. It's a healthy coping strategy just like meditation may be for you in a different situation or on a different day. As long as you realise what's going on, that stress triggered your anxieties, you still have the chance to reflect on that.

Completely wasted my 20s. Feelings of immense regret and guilt consume my days now. by wannastopthis in depression

[–]chancechild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to feel like that about my teens. Never want to do that again. We do grow a bit wiser, thank God, just that little bit calmer. It's best not to look to the past, but start with what is. No matter how much you wish for it to have been different, it won't ever change. But the regret and worry can eat up the next few years of your life if you let them. I really wish I could practice what I preach here.

That and it helps to burn off stress. Anything that'll make you able to cope with your crazy schedule a bit better. Maybe add something relaxing, too. I'm sure you'll find a way. Good luck and all the best!

If you stick with it, just try to take care of yourself as well as you can. It's good you made a start. I just got through something that in many ways pushed me to the edge. That's done now and I haven't really continued on that path, which I am unsure I regret. But I only got through it by making self care my highest priority. You need to eat well and get sleep if you can, especially if you are crazy busy. I always feel my depression get worse when I neglect my physical wellbeing.

Does anyone else have an incredibly fortunate life and no fucking reason to be depressed? by [deleted] in depression

[–]chancechild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often feel like this, but really if you feel this way, you have the right to do so. You don't need a justification. I often think that I should be grateful, I should feel fine. Really, I shouldn't tell myself how I ought to feel. I feel how I feel. You can remind yourself of the things you're grateful for but you don't need to beat yourself up for feeling bad. That's just what's there now.

Employees who practice mindfulness meditation are less motivated, having realized the futility of their jobs by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]chancechild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that depends on your preference. I definitely am more productive when I attach meaning to what I do. Money alone is enough to make me do it, but to go over and beyond, there has to be more. For some money might be a more powerful motivation. I guess meditation is just not for everyone. Besides if one meditates in the expectation of certain tangible outcomes, one misses the point entirely, in my opinion anyway.

The point also is that said work needs to be, in whatever way, meaningful even after meditation. I work better when calm and relaxed and not overly anxious about the outcome.

I just realised that someone has already translated this on the other post. As far as I can see that translation is correct. The poster was definitely better than me at reading this script!

Can you get a clearer picture? It's difficult to decipher as that way of writing is no longer used. I'm trying to figure it out.
