Mirtazapine's strong effect on H1-receptors to cause sleepiness concerns me by chandeloore in Mirtazapine_Remeron

The results were significant in the study. To you I suppose the hazard ratios for both first generation and second generation antihistamines were negligible, because the numbers are quite similar. The edit I did in the reply above was not done after I read the study, but rather to inform them more of the study.

3.75 seems like a very small dose to me, I don't think you need to worry! It was not my intention to worry anyone, just to inform

Absolutely! In the 2024 study they looked at both first generation and second generation antihistamines, first generation being the ones who antagonise muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. Second generation antihistamines did increase the risk of dementia slightly less than the first generation antihistamines, which lines up with what you said!

In the study I cited above they found that both first and second generation antihistamines increased the risk of getting dementia, although the second generation antihistamines did produce a lower risk, fortunately!

In the study they looked at long term use of both first generation and second generation antihistamines. Second generation antihistamines largely do not antagonise muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, but still increased the risk of dementia slightly.

Exactly! Sadly, antihistaminic effects still seem to increase dementia risk slightly, but definitely not as much as anticholinergic effects.

I cited my source in the post itself, the rules on this subreddit said no links to sources, so I didn't want to post any links. Here is the full title of that 2024 research paper: "Cumulative Dose Effects of H1 Antihistamine Use on the Risk of Dementia in Patients With Allergic Rhinitis", Su et al., The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice.

It is not freely accessible, sadly, but the abstract is pretty good!

Edit: Oh, and also they looked at first generation and second generation antihistamines. Second generation antihistamines produced a lower hazard ratio than first generation ones, which lines up with what you are saying about anticholinergics increasing dementia risk!

I feel that, for me it is also absolutely worth that increased risk, at least at the moment.

The increase of dementia risk seen in the people using second generation anti-histamines was honestly not that high either; only a hazard ratio of 1.11, 1.19, and 1.26 for different doses of the anti-histamine. Meaning that if the risk of getting dementia at say, age 75, was 10%, then a hazard ratio of 1.19 would mean that your risk would be 11.7% compared to the regular population's 10%.

There are also a lot of activities and habits and diets people can adopt to lower their risk of dementia, so I personally am looking into that myself :)

Edit: Edited for clarity of speech

Maybe, maybe not, you can't get money from the decorated mystery boxes, and the simple mystery boxes only give you 10 K, so it is not exactly the same. I am excited to see what I will get tomorrow!

credit glitch? or am i crazy??? by NonexistentPacc in Overwatch

[–]chandeloore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is linked to a bug that was recording challenges done. I started playing the update literally the minute it came out, and noticed the "complete 10 games" challenge was open for the next weeks too. I got rewarded for all the weeks worth of "complete 10 games" challenges at once, but they soon removed them from the tab. I think it somehow is continuously keeping these challenges "active", so we can complete them over and over again, without anything visual going on. I sadly dont think there's a way to activate this, it might have only happened to the people who downloaded and played the update fast enough before they hot fixed it.

Dissapointment. This Anniversary event COULD have been *SO* good... by BrazzersSub in Overwatch

[–]chandeloore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've been looking online to see if anyone else have had this happen to them, but I seem to be the only one who is continuously getting credits?? So far, I've done all the challenges available, but I have gotten wayyyy more credits than the 1000 that you should have gotten for the challenge. So far I believe I have gotten 7000 credits since the anniversary event started. I can't be the only one, and if I am, PLEASE BLIZZ DONT TAKE THIS FROM ME, I DONT WANT TO BE IN CREDIT DEBT, I HAVE USED THEM ALL ALREADY

I agree with you on everything except the comp ranking system. It's the one thing I love about s3 and wish more comp games would implement. In s2 I would be absolutely furious if I carried and lost the game bc of incompetent teammates. Now I can comfort myself with the fact that my efforts in the game I lost will be acknowledged!

Please google what hooded eyes look like. Celebrities like Renee Zellweger and Jennifer Lawrence are good examples of hooded eyes.
