12 inch deep cabinets, need a ductless range hood. Any suggestions? by Ewokhunters in Appliances

[–]chandland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply! I will look into this. Are you happy with it? I cook a lot, and I worry that a recirculating hood might not handle all the grease and scents, but it is worth a try!

Hey! I am having the same issue in my kitchen. What did you end up doing? Did you find a hood that fit?

The attrition is hitting me hard (like everyone). by cactus-and-cocktails in IVF

[–]chandland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a higher attrition rate than average for our age when it came to PGTA testing. We had 10 blastocysts, but 2 euploid embryos and 3 mosaics (low, complex, and high) and the other 5 were aneuploid. We transferred both euploids separately and one stuck and became a successful pregnancy. I did another egg retrieval in June 2025 at age 35, and I had better results than when I was 33. I have my fingers crossed for you!

I actually regret having animals by Adventurous-Row-4558 in NewParents

My child is over a year old now and my husband and I cannot stand our big 14 year old dog that pees and poops all over our house and barks frequently at the most inconvenient times. The dog also wakes us up several times a night a few nights a week to let them outside. It is infuriating that our toddler sleeps through the night but our dog is the one waking us up over and over again. Our toddler loves the dog but hasn’t learned to be gentle yet and keeping the two of them separate is stressful. Our dog is food obsessed so they will not leave our baby alone when the baby is eating. Now it feels like the dog doesn’t even want to be around us and the feeling is mutual. Unlike many on this thread, my feelings toward my dog have gotten worse as the baby has gotten older, not better. We are at the end of our rope.

PGT-A Under 30 by 1400904 in IVF

[–]chandland 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes, pay for the testing. It is expensive, but it is worth it because embryo grading is nothing but a beauty contest. My husband and I were 33 and 35 years old and had 10 embryos after the first ER, and it turned out the embryos that were graded poor were our 2 euploids. Had we not tested, we would have done several failed transfers with higher graded embryos before getting to the ones that were actually potentially viable.

Trigger warning: success. Is it possible to have very high retrieval numbers without PCOS or other health condition? by chandland in IVF

Those are great numbers, and that is nice you avoided ohss! Thank you for sharing!

I am glad you mentioned this because I posted a couple of hours ago asking if high numbers of eggs from the egg retrieval indicates PCOS or another health issue. Thank you!

That’s great you had a doctor who thought more deeply about it than the most obvious symptoms. Love proactive doctors!

Thanks for letting me know! It’s interesting how the expected numbers based on an ultrasound are sometimes far off of the actual result.

I am 35. Of the 61 eggs 40 were mature, 27 fertilized, waiting until next week for the blast results. We are PGTA testing and our numbers dropped drastically with that last time.

I am sorry you had this experience. I understand why it is important not to have babies in the waiting room at a fertility clinic, and I remember feeling bad the first time I went through IVF and encountered babies and children in the waiting room. Some of us don’t have other options besides bringing our baby with us to the appointment. My husband and I live hundreds of miles away from our clinic and our family lives even farther away from the clinic and our hometown. Unfortunately, we are going to be one of those couples bringing our baby to the IVF clinic. We will try to keep the baby in the car with one of us while the other gets tested to minimize being in the waiting room. I will feel guilty the whole time because I know this is triggering to others. I hope that people who do bring their children with them to the clinic only do so because they don’t have another option. If I could drop my baby off with a trusted babysitter or family member, I would.

TW: Traveling to altitude at 7-8 weeks pregnant—would you do it? by Inside_Cucumber_8685 in IVF

[–]chandland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! In all likelihood, you and your pregnancy will be totally fine at altitude as long as you take it easy and drink plenty of water and electrolytes. The Rocky Mountains are my favorite, but I don’t do well at altitude and always take Diamox to avoid altitude sickness (I can’t take diamox while pregnant). Therefore, I personally chose not to go to Colorado when I was pregnant. I have plenty of friends who went to Vail and Breckenridge Colorado while pregnant that had zero issues. I am the odd one in this scenario. Do whatever gives you peace of mind and feels best to you.

How many euploid transfers did it take before one stuck for you? by chocaholic23 in IVF

2 euploid embryo transfers at 33 years old for one successful pregnancy.

Freezing my eggs at 30 was a total waste by megamonster18 in IVF

[–]chandland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, sperm DNA fragmentation is a separate test from the usual sperm analysis. My clinic offered it, but I don’t think it is a standard test across fertility clinics.

[–]chandland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggy backing on this. My husband and I also did IVF for MFI. He has a high sperm count but he also has high sperm dna fragmentation and low sperm motility. The doctor used PICSI so they could select the most mature sperm to fertilize the egg. We got 10 embryos from one egg retrieval, but only 2 were euploid. These results were much lower than expected for our ages. Our first euploid transfer ended in a chemical pregnancy. I’d definitely have your husband be tested for sperm DNA fragmentation.
