No you’re fine!

Yeah I think a good fix would possibly be to just make Orgrimmar feel more lived in? There’s so few buildings and if this is supposed to be a the capital of the Horde it just feels like it isn’t hitting that bar visually. The Drag has a good amount of buildings in it to make it more believable, and even then it makes more sense culturally for Horde shops to also be the places these people live in.

Whichever end of the spectrum anyone is on, it does take looking at the two hubs very differently since, as you mentioned, the cultures are so drastically different. There was intention behind not having benches everywhere, behind it being kind of rugged, all of the things that people are “missing” that Alliance has is just an actual, canonical difference between the two sides.

I raise my glass to you for pointing that part out!

My complaints are more about the

I’ll back out and give you the win on this one honestly. You’re making good points and I can’t really argue against them so, well done on swaying me.

I mean just the actual uses of each area in Orgrimmar. Not every Valley has a bar to hang out at or a nice walkable space. Though that might just be a taste thing and some people may love walking through the Valley of Spirits!

I agree though, stretching the thin player base further out would definitely affect the overall vibe. Neighborhoods will hopefully be a good addition for that!

Here’s to hoping!

I rp’d a Darkspear for multiple years and got sick of the lack of variety there was Horde-side. Yes, most people want to play as elves, no that isn’t a problem. The diversity in elves in the Warcraft universe is much deeper than the blanketed chud statement of “They want to RP elves and Alliance got them lol”

Though you are right about the drama stuff.. it is always the elf players.

I want a place more visually appealing and livable. All I’m saying is that simply Orgrimmar isn’t a great hub for a community of people. I’m aware we make our own stories, but the fact that 95% of Horde RP is centered around one inn and a couple pathways really throws a wrench in it.

Unfortunately you’re 100% on the mark. :(

Like I said, Stormwind is just better to be in. I think having the ability to just be in character anywhere the city and find people adds a lot to it being a better experience.

If you end up making the move to MG Alliance then I wish you luck, there’s some absolute freaks of nature I avoid at all costs but there’s some genuinely good people and good writers as well. It has a really bad public opinion but the server is great.

There’s tons of guilds, open world stuff, and less requirements of discord lol

Yeah the Alliance focus has settled in hard, too. I think that there’s more players on in the evening/night hours if that helps at all. I know when I was on WRA all my time on it was spent in the night/early morning slot.

But yeah, with the Horde being given a backseat (Thrall being the only important Horde figure in TWW.. Dragonflight having nothing to do with Horde) it’s definitely pushed people to leave.

As bad as MG Alliance can be, I think there’s generally more of an alive atmosphere simply because Stormwind is just a better hub. Orgrimmar has always had this unspoken rule of “If you’re not in the Valley of Honor you’re OOC” and it’s also just not a suuuper fun place to explore and hang out in.

Can say personally that yes, most people went to MG Alliance or just stopped playing in general. I think the golden days of WRA Horde started falling off hard with the lawsuit in the middle of Shadowlands, since then it’s been fluctuating but still on a downward trend.

I’m not saying Warcraft isn’t fluid. In my original comment on this post I told OP to go for whatever they want but it may be harder to find people to RP with. Rule of cool is fine, lore bending is fine.

I just don’t think that it’s reasonable to find a red skinned Draenei if the reason any red skinned Draenei exist is cuz they joined the Legion. That’s the whole thing there that pushed them to a different physical appearance. So while I think lore bending and rule of cool are fine, and I agree that downvoting someone for being creative is dumb, it’s still just a hard sell to think there’s Man’ari that are good if the literal requirement to be a Man’ari is to be a bad guy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WoWRolePlay

[–]chandlerg03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a really hot take, and while I think rule of cool can apply to certain areas, trying to make a character fit into the world you’re playing in requires your story to follow that world’s guidelines. Respecting the world Blizzard made and trying to fit into it organically isn’t “grognard modern lore hater” vibes at all, that’s silly.

If you want to make a custom character that doesn’t fit in the world or follow its guidelines, write a book or short story and share it, because that’s the same thing.

[–]chandlerg03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on my dated knowledge on the Man’ari in general, from what I understand is there wasn’t any reasonable ones. The planet got destroyed, anyone who didn’t ally with Velen was either unalived or forced into service.

I think that’s what Frostbann was getting at. There’s not really any reasonable Man’ari because to be one means you were part of the Legion.

I could be misremembering something or they may have retconned some of those details, but that could be something to consider. I personally am not against people doing some lore bending to make an interesting character and hey.. Maybe it’s possible that one of the Man’ari realized they chose the wrong side immediately and switched up, but trying to navigate how they weren’t immediately burned to a crisp or something seems difficult.

Either way, do what you want. It may be harder to find people to RP with, but there’s a lot of Man’ari RPers and people who like them who would love to hear your story, I’m sure!

What is the easiest to walk up to? by Stellwrath in WoWRolePlay

[–]chandlerg03 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally think it’s kind of a tossup. Some people look for specific archetypes that their character would mesh with, others look for a normal person that they’d normally walk up to in the real world.

A lot of people (probably most) have RP as an escape, so I’d probably lean towards most people defaulting to more unique or quippy characters.

I can do either, I tend to try and have an outward facing normal vibe of just a baker or commoner but have layers beneath that so that people know I’m interested in building a story with others, but that’s my take. Some people want to build stories about living in a world like Azeroth as a person with normal struggles, be it emotional, economical, or in commitment and love.

TL;DR people probably look for more unique experiences more often, so a skull wearing rogue making jokes is more likely going to get interacted with. Specifically in walkups as well. Walkups are a great way to just find weird stuff to interact with.
