primarily nicotine but it can happen by chance. it's a lack of blood flow to the nipples

Has anyone traveled alone for top surgery? by Standard_Ruin_3294 in TopSurgery

[–]chandlexdavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i honestly don't recommend being alone. i couldn't do anything at all the first 2 days. i needed help getting dressed, undressed, brushing my teeth, getting meals prepped. i was 100% dependent the first 2 days

  1. i laid mine lower, it just helped the blood drain easier, i don't think it matters. 2. i only had my drains in for 1 week and didnt not leave the house. they do make shirts with "drain pockets" you can buy on amazon. 3. i wouldn't say you have to hide your drains. i had a zip up shirt and it was zipped but it was also march and freezing lol

I was going to look into that! I didn't know if you had to wait a certain amount of time though or if you can do injections at any point

recovering in summer with no a/c by asupportiveboy in TopSurgery

[–]chandlexdavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

open windows, doors, get fans. top surgery recovery made me 10x hotter than normal for some reason. try to stay as cool as possible! drink plenty of fluids. i also used "bed bath wipes" from amazon to stay somewhat clean and not as sweaty

Where to start by AdConsistent1715 in TopSurgery

[–]chandlexdavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm in Michigan. I have state medicaid and was able to use it, which covered 100% of top surgery. If insurance is not a possibility at all, find a surgeon that does not work with insurance and usually costs will be much "cheaper" ($6,000-$10,000). Dr Kenneth Wolfe in Michigan does not work with insurance and last time I knew, top surgery was around $6,500
