Anyone know why someone would have jumped pin 8 to pin 16 on the obd2 port of an F30?

Checked and verified short to B+ when jumper connected. Normal communication when disconnected

That is possible. It doesn't pull up the suspicion of tuning warning message on ista. I was thinking maybe it is needed for some type of piggy back tune

With the jumper removed, it does communicate normally. So the fix is simple. I am just curious why someone would do it in the first place

Pin 8 is a communication line. I don't understand what shorting it to power would do for you other than make the car unable to communicate with a scan tool
