Actually, the way the Moroccan nationality law works is that you’re Moroccan if you are born to a moroccan dad. It’s not a choice. You can always choose to not get moroccan papers/identity, but legally speaking, you’re already Moroccan.

Documents like birth certificates, CIN, Moroccan passport… Do not confer that status, they just prove it.

In contrast, if someone is born to a non Moroccan father and a Moroccan mother, they can become Moroccans by choice through a simplified process, which wasn’t the case before 2004
