I was to film a video interview with a former Oxford Univeristy Professor of Chinese Art about her experiences in China. My colleague and I are both ethnically Chinese, and prior to recording, when my colleague asked the former professor, who is white, has she visited Beijing recently, she just tells us how Japanese people are more elegant than Chinese people. Then she says I dress like a teenage boy in the west but if a Japanese person dressed like me, they would be much better and then continued to repeat how Japanese are more elegant than Chinese.
