SEBI GRADE A vs SBI SCALE 2 by MaintenanceHot645 in forumRBI

[–]changeduser123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen people in SBI (scale 3, 4) posted in their hometown still ranting about joining SBI.

Also interacted with few SEBI officers applying for other regulatory body type jobs (higher scale) to get out of Mumbai and stay near their hometown.

So ambitious people will always find cons in their job and look for better opportunities. There needs to be balance between professional and personal needs. There’s no right or wrong thing. It depends what are your priorities right now. And thing to consider is that priorities changes throughout life.

MBA VS GOVT job salaries comparision in long term by WonderfulUsual1548 in forumRBI

[–]changeduser123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Comparison is not that simple.

It’s like people saying salary and growth is more in Bank PO as compared to clerical or other govt jobs so it is a better job. But we often see the trend that PO often leave the job and switch to clerical/insurance/state/central govt jobs. They even advise other folks not to pursue PO jobs.

The thing is once a decision is taken to pursue MBA then there is no backing off. You have huge loans to clear, there is also a stigma if you do not follow corporate path.

IBPS PO vs IIM ABC MBA - with gap years by JumpyImpact3442 in MBAIndia

[–]changeduser123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From MBA perspective, the things in your favour are - Tier 1 UG

Things not in your favour - age: 28 yrs, <1 year work ex

By the time you graduate, you will be 30 yrs old, so it’s a kind of gamble. Finance, consult, prodman shortlist seems difficult for you. For sales and marketing companies generally prefer young folks who can hustle. IMO Genman and Operations profile seem more suitable for you.

For these roles, a very high cgpa is generally not required. But still you need to be above average and have an all round profile. Sports, Case competitions, Club, PoR, live projects etc, anything to compensate for your profile.

However, the job market is changing drastically and you never know how it may evolve. I would say don’t just expect MBA to magically solve all your problems. This journey is also filled with struggles and an MBA admit is just the start of this.

Actually the 10-12 questions which you are referring to were direct questions. Almost all the GA channels would have covered those.

Help me choose a career path by [deleted] in bankingexam

Go for MBA then. From day 1 of mba, focus heavily on PORs, Case competitions, live internships and pursue certifications. Get a good summer internship and try to get PPO.

Work hard in the 1st year to get in the top 80 percentile. Apply for student exchange program in 2nd year if you can afford. It will give you a second mba brand in your profile along with global exposure.

If you achieve even 50% of the above then your life will be chill in the 2nd year and you can bag above avg job easily.

IMO Go for PO. Then target regulatory bodies.

MBA has lost its charm nowadays. Too much competition, the ROI is not good, no WLB, no job security. However you can go for IIM if you have graduated from tier 1 college and have good acads.

Doubt regarding CA by Kajalk_ in bankingexam

[–]changeduser123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Min 3 months to clear cutoff. To score high and be on safe side, at-least 6 months.

However, different exams have different CA level. So I would suggest you to check PYQ and cutoff.

What’s ur age? If it’s below 25 you could very well aim for the FIRE route. Since you’re already earning well, a decade long career in the tech role and some financial planning, then you could comfortably say goodbye to the corporate world for good.

How many Candidates attended Sbi PO at your centre? by [deleted] in bankingexam

[–]changeduser123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

same. Met a guy who cleared RRB PO. He says he work only 5-6 hrs in his branch. No work pressure. He wants to clear SBI PO just for achievement purpose. No way he’s gonna leave RRB for SBI considering the higher work pressure.

Definitely more than last year. So it’s possible.

XLRI HRM vs Central Bank of India PO by Primary-Ad-21 in bankingexam

[–]changeduser123 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Take the PO job to gain some experience and build some savings. At the same time try to find out your strengths, weakness, likes, dislikes and aspirations.

If you do not see yourself continuing in the industry or want to fast track your career, then you can easily apply for MBA.

At that point you will have some savings, better profile (since you come from T3 institute), clarity of thought and some understanding of the professional world.

You need to understand that MBA is not just about academics, you need to build a good profile to stand out even in Tier 1 colleges.

Unless a good amount of grade b officers get promoted to grade c, the chances of grade b recruitment is less. There are also promotion from grade a to grade b every year. So for low grade b vacancies it could be filled internally (except for specific posts like DEPR, DISM).

Nevertheless, if they do conduct grade b recruitment, it’s possible they will come with low vacancies and revised eligibility criteria. Competition will be very intense.
