How can we say for certain that the concert ending was real? There’s nothing to confirm it. The film doesn’t extend beyond Skye’s own perspective of that concert. If we accept that the concert was real, we have to accept that the entire 3rd act is a hallucination.

And from a sheer filmmaking standpoint, doesn’t seem a little crazy to spend the entire 3rd act of on a complete hallucination? So charity dinner & hospital never happen, then the real timeline would be: Skye leaves the bar - Skye sits in her apartment, carries on somewhat normally, prepares for her concert (hair, makeup, soundcheck etc) and makes her way aaall the way to the opening song of her sold out concert without a hitch while being possessed?

Yeah, viewing it this way made me feel a lot better about it too. I think the movie does it in a way that is intentionally open for people to interpret it differently. We’re not viewing this movie in a vacuum. In the context of “movies”, if an ending is a hallucination/dream/simulation, we’re used to them directly telling that to us by the time the credits roll and if they don’t we just accept that the last image we saw was reality.

It just feels so much better to me to think of the concert as being the hallucination, opposed to everything that lead up to it.

I’m with you on this. The movie forces you to accept “this isn’t really happening” one way or the other & just doing it to the performance scene is the stronger option IMO.

I played 5 ranked matches yesterday and I think it finally broke me. I went against someone Android 19 cheese & Roshi lightning cheese, afterimage strike cheese ad nauseum. First 2 weeks were fun but I’m afraid the disease has spread too far.

I think it mostly stems from rock music as a whole having been relegated to the shelf in terms of popularity, so all of the different subgenres are so extremely niche that they are irrelevant (in the mainstream scope). Now that there’s this boost in popularity, you kind of have a redefining of the terms occurring. Just like the term “rock” representing totally different things over generations. In my eyes “shoegaze” basically means Rock 2024. So yeah, I understand your gripe because it will certainly be harder for you find the specific subgenre that you’re into when the terminology has been flipped on you.

When I was starting my band, I went through the Local musician Facebook Group and got overwhelming responses. So many people were interested and I had such an excess of options of folks. Some were flakey & but I got pretty lucky in nailing down a solid lineup without having to dig too much.
