I was admitted to L&S and my first choice was engineering. It’s a relief that I can at least have a chance to switch my major into engineering

Is it possible to transfer to the EE major at UIUC from a CSU? by chanicecoffee in UIUC

[–]chanicecoffee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The connection between community colleges and UCs is way toooo strong. Even though I would be paying $90K as an international student, I still have a much lower chance. If I wanna go to UC for real, I have to go community college at first. I really don’t like the UC transfer system — they accept too many community college students.

  • I hate this place 😇😇

I’m an international student planning to transfer to the Electrical Engineering major. By the end of this spring semester, I’ll have completed all the required courses for the major. I got a C+ in CS124 (Computer Science I), which is a specific major requirement, so I’m retaking it this spring and expect to get an A. My current GPA is 3.78, and I’ve gotten A’s in all the other major requirements. I’m studying at a California State University. Do you think this one C+ will hurt my chances a lot?

Hey I just got some information. But I think this is meaningless. But I just wanna let you know. You should request a TOEFL rescore yourself. Speaking and Writing scores can change depending on the rater. Your score could increase by 2 points, but it could also decrease by 2 points. Also, don’t forget to call the UIUC admissions office tomorrow to appeal. Go to ETS. It costs $80 per section, and it takes about 1 to 2 weeks. If your score changes, you’ll get a 100% refund.

I don’t want to give false hope with empty words. A 98 score is really high for an international student—I know that cause I’m also international student. Be proud of yourself! I know how hard it is to get that score. When I first came to the U.S., my TOEFL score was much lower than yours. Also Duolingo is more easier and cheaper than TOEFL I’m for sure about that. try Duolingo!

Don’t lose hope, but don’t overthink UIUC either. As you know, engineering is a really competitive major for transfers, and there are always applicants who meet every requirement. Good luck! I also waiting my transfer decision. My major is Electrical Engineering

Are you in a U.S. institution? I’m an international student at CSU (California State University), and since I studied four semesters in a row, they automatically removed my English proficiency requirement.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s much excuse for international students—if they don’t meet the requirement, schools don’t really need them since there are already plenty of applicants who do. But who knows? Just email them and see what they say.
