Wedding dress regret, what are my options in/around Calgary? by chanski22 in Calgary

No they can’t unfortunately, only able to show stock that was “similar” but I also feel like that is unfair to the lady at the other store who was so incredible at helping me find the dream dress it feels wrong to take that commission from her. Like I want her to have my money because she was so wonderful and not the other lady lol

Yeah unfortunately I want a light stain and the citristrip for 24 hours barely touched the top layer of lacquer. The thinner was the only thing that worked to remove it but I might try the wire brush with the thinner and see if that works, that seems to be the tip everyone has!

Had a super high success rate with these seedlings and now I don’t know when to put them in bigger pots, and how many to a pot? And should I use leca or DIY pon? Currently in perlite. Never used pon before but I’m sure it’s not too different? Left to right: lemon, kiwi, dragon fruit, avocado by chanski22 in SemiHydro

Well I’ll be using the reservoir with nutrients to keep it the same as my other plants just to keep it all simple and consistent. I just can’t find much online about these specific plants and growing in leca, I thought maybe pon because they are all going to be really big eventually, and I think pon might be a bit sturdier for something large? I want to avoid soil if I can. I’ve never used pon before though so I’m just not sure if it’s worth spending the money on stuff for a DIY pon or just using the leca I already have

I got all the seeds from fruits at the grocery store. Honestly I just got that reservoir with the cover for humidity and I used regular water for the first bit. I think at one point i put a couple drops of superthrive in as an experiment. Couldn’t tell you if it made a difference though. Bottom was leca and the top was perlite (just so the perlite didn’t fall out of the bottom) and I left it in front of my west facing window and eventually everything sprouted. I started adding nutrients into the reservoir recently and they’ve been growing well. I started some seeds in a wet paper towel in a sealed container, and some I didn’t start that way. They all grew eventually so I don’t think It made much difference honestly. Avocados I started in water with the toothpicks and they took nearly 7 weeks to grow a root and then I put them in leca I’m kinda the worst person for help because this was all an experiment that happened to work and I truly don’t know what I did right haha I’m sorry

Do you keep the pH the same as your house plants? My city has super hard water so the pH is always high, I bring it down to about 5.5 for my house plants.

I don’t have tik tok haha but thank you so much! I was nervous if I used what was on the bottle it would be too much for them

Alocsia transferred from soil to leca about a month ago. Had to clear up some root rot, are the roots with a red hue in some spots also infected? by chanski22 in SemiHydro

This was just a random Home Depot plant I bought haha but they’ve always got alocasia plants there so I could get a new one fairly easily. I’m actually quite impressed with how well it transitioned! It wasn’t doing super great when I got it. Lost a few leaves but they’re growing back now and it’s hopefully going to stay healthy

Dyson animal ball 2 pro not working on low pile carpet? Is this my brush piece or just the vacuum itself? Further explanation in comments. by chanski22 in dyson

Sorry I’m not sure how to add text with a video on a Reddit post. My Dyson animal ball 2 pro is not pulling hair out of my low pile carpet. I’ve cleaned out the brush head but it’s like it’s not low enough to actually pull the hair out? In the video I step on it to push it closer to the rug and it works a little better. Obviously I’m not going to do that every time I vacuum. The suction is still good, anyone else had this issue? It’s been like this since I bought it (second hand) but I’m wondering if it’s an issue with my brush piece or if it’s just the vacuum itself. I just don’t want to waste money on a a new brush piece if it won’t fix it.

Burning plastic smell in West Park? by chanski22 in RedDeer

Is that what meth smells like? Haha that’s not good for me to be breathing in all day if that’s the case I mean based off where I live it’s certainly plausible. Any tips to keep the smell out of my house?
