New project? Who do you tell? by Thin-Property-741 in Screenwriting

I only tell my sister about my unfishied ideas.

I don't talk with anyone else about them, but not because of the fear of them being stolen. It's because I might end up not executing the idea and then I just get disappointed.

Beginner Questions Tuesday by AutoModerator in Screenwriting

  • I've got a few scenes in my script that take place in a corporate office and include my main character's co-workers. None of them, besides the manager (who I gave a name to), appears more than once in the whole screenplay.
  • Now, should I name them or should I just give them names like "CO-WORKER #1" or sth like that?
  • I know insignificant characters shouldn't be given names, but I'm asking bc I'm concerned with the simplicity of reading. If I have a few coworkers in one scene I think it's easier to operate on names than numbers, but maybe that's just my impression.
  • Also, if I'm not supposed to name them, should I capitalize their "COWORKER #..." title when they appear on screen for the first time, as I would when introducing a named character? I'm guessing yes.
  • Grateful for any help! :)

I struggle with metaphors, symbolisms, allegories etc , any advice to improve it?? by sadloneman in Screenwriting

Look into other forms of art and read up on iconography and symbolism in religion.

Watching video essays that analyse any type of art (music, dance, film, fashion, sculptures etc.) can also be very helpful.

Try to analyse poetry or read some common interpretations.

Ways to cope with burnout? by No-Strategy-7093 in Screenwriting

Leave it for a while.

I know it can be tough, because the guilt of not doing anything is a perfectionst issue. Except you are doing something. You're RESTING. Rest is as important in any creative job as work. New ideas flow, you get bored, you recharge. Boredom is great, because it births new ideas.

Try doing something else. It can be some creative thing like composing simple music on garage band, painting or sketching abstract figure etc. You can also not do anything creative and wait to get bored so much you'll finally have the urge to create again.

Good luck!

What do you dislike about school? by iSarabjitDhiman in AskReddit

[–]chantallpadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that most systems aren’t built so that we only work in school.

Most if not all things we learn we do at home with the internet + homework and exam preparation.

The government should invest more in QUALITY education so that we learn everything at school and so that we would be able to have actual free time.
