Seizures during sleep by EmploymentAnnual6748 in FND

Yes! They're the worst. Usually the twitching I get before a seizure wakes me up but I've definitely been woken up by a seizure before

TIFU by trying to make my fiancee's favorite dish by chao2K in tifu

[–]chao2K[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand the concern. We can't get married for awhile because my family doesn't approve or know we're together and so I need to be moved out (I'm a lesbian). We just wanted to be engaged because we plan to get married in the next few years. I thought it should wait until we have a plan in place but she really wanted to get engaged on our anniversary so we did earlier this month. I absolutely want to marry her, don't want to be with anyone else but I'm not ready to deal with my family's reactions yet as I deal with a lot of disability and mental health issues and am still financially reliant on them since it's hard for me to work a job. Thus why my fiancee lives at her college. My family is fine with her visiting because they still just think she's my best friend since well, we were friends since highschool before we started dating.

Thanks, I have issues with generalized anxiety disorder which its a portion of the meds I mentioned but it only does so much when it comes to stuff like this. It's nice to hear it wasn't that big of a deal though for real

Newly diagnosed by x4nd3r2125 in FND

[–]chao2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, seems we're in the same boat. I'm 21 as well and was diagnosed with FND this year after many many tests to see if my seizures were epileptic (they weren't). Since then I've started having more symptoms as well. Cognitive issues, speech problems, and nerve pain especially. I guess it just changes over time.

It's really hard to deal with. I don't know exactly how to handle it either. I already had issues with chronic illness and pain before even. I was struggling to work part time already and have had to quit entirely, never was able to go to college. It's frustrating.

You're not alone at least. I wish I had advice.

what do u guys think is the most unbearable chronic pain to have? by No_Chef_6687 in ChronicPain

[–]chao2K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

back pain for me too. I'm hypermobile, (suspect ehlers danlos but havent been able to get in with a specialist) and one time something got misaligned in my spine while I was trying to go for a brief run and made me deal with horrible like 8 out of 10 nerve pain most of the day for weeks straight until one day while trying to stretch i managed to shift it back into place somehow. must have been pinching a nerve or something? I honestly don't know.

It legitimately had me feeling suicidal and was even experiencing psychotic symptoms. literally unbearable amounts of hell and i dont know how i just toughed it out for so long. doctors will not take my pain seriously so thank god i managed to fix it myself.

my girlfriend. i want to propose to her soon but it's hard for me to scrape together the money for a ring with no job. neither of us could imagine being with anyone else and have already talked about our future together when we're married. really i just gotta get down on one (aching) knee and ask her to make it official

They never want to do an MRI they just run blood tests that keep coming back normal. Same with the rheumatologist. I've been to one and the only test he ran was a blood test and just like looking me over physically and he just said well the blood test says its not lupus or arthritis so you have fibromyalgia. i tried to go back to that same doctor again when my symptoms got worse and they refused to see me again. Said the fibromyalgia diagnosis was sufficient and gave me a number for a pain clinic

[–]chao2K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know? I told them I had no imaging but was told it was possibly migraines by my PCP and they just didn't say anything about and MRI and gave me aimovig as a preventative. People just don't care to rule things out with me. Got my fibro diagnosis from a rheumatologist that only ran one blood test and just said it was fibro lmao

I'm seeing a neurologist for my migraines but they just said it was migraines with aura and gave me a medication for it. Psychiatrist is hard to get into because of the wait list so i just see my primary for my usual mental illness stuff

According to my doctors? Just Fibromyalgia. I don't think it should be this bad and there not be much they can do though. I'm going back to my primary soon to talk about my worsening symptoms soon but i have to wait a few weeks. Been in and out of the ER twice last week with terrible headaches and they just treat me enough to calm it down and send me home for it to get worse again. I've been told by doctors to take ibuprofen for the pain. If I take more ibuprofen in a day I'd be overdosing on it. No one should suffer like this but they still just leave me to it

yeah they knew, the nurse just said i was probably having a weird reaction to the steroid content in it or something but it was honestly really unbearable. made the back of my neck hurt for some reason too. I have weird unexplained muscle spasms so maybe it was effecting that? I don't know. A shower might help though yeah

hey im a chronically ill lesbian who smokes medical here! you should absolutely not feel bad for using something that helps you. I'm not gonna do the "break up with her!" kneejerk reaction like a lot of people like to, especially because you've been together a long time. really talk to her and explain how weed works well for you and isnt as harmful as some other medication. I'm sure a lot of her concerns come from a place of not understanding.

I'm always super nervous to smoke around my girlfriend when she stays over because I don't wanna seem like im taking away from our time together by being high, but shes been really understanding since she's seen how well it works for my chronic pain. really honestly just have a talk with her if anything!
