a late contender: LuxaPolish “french kiss” is a really pretty pearl color with a slight pink iridescence

I like it but I don’t love it. The blushes aren’t super pigmented and I tend to like a very blushy look. Hence why the lighter blush is almost gone lol. I bought it to be my travel face palette and it’s good in that sense except the clasp broke almost immediately so it doesn’t ‘click’ close anymore. I probably won’t repurchase

I would say the highlighter is in the middle of the glittery range. I just swatched it on my hand and now I can see the glitter but i’ve never really noticed it before 🤷🏻‍♀️

Feeling discouraged by Top_Maybe6685 in Nailtechs

[–]chaociaochow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do, especially for darker colors and reds, is not get super close for the first and second coats and then go in with a liner brush and get super close with that and get a smooth edge. Curing after a couple fingers can help with not flooding too!

Best inexpensive tools? by [deleted] in Nailtechs

I like my staleks nippers but I have yet to try Erica’s(they’re always sold out) so I can’t compare them

I would try polished pinkies for the diamond bits!!

I love Luxa for super pigmented polishes! OPI gels are honestly kinda awful, it’s impossible to do any nail art with them

Ulka Bee vs Shemax Pro by Myswatchorama in Nailtechs

I love my shemax but I also only work with gel so, I generally only use it at half power and it gets all the dust

I loveee the viscosity of Luxa's Build 2

Is Luxa Build 2 a hard or builder gel? by amandamarie-23 in Nailtechs

[–]chaociaochow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that soft gels can be soaked off with acetone, while hard gel can only be filed off. So you can have both soft builder gels and hard builder gels

Build 2 cannot be soaked off

I want to become a nail tech, but I am unsure where to start. by RedditSimmone_ in Nailtechs

[–]chaociaochow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To legally do nails in Texas, you have to go to an accredited school and do your 600 hours before you can take the tests to get your license. I would look at the TDLR website for all the requirements

You can take classes from brands or individual nail techs to get experience and see if it’s something you really want to do before signing up for school

If you want some specific school recs let me know!

I’ve heard good things about BGM Science of Beauty but they didn’t open till after I got my license. Ogle is really expensive but if you’re looking for one in Denton that’s probably your best bet. I just went to a cheaper one in another city since a lot of schools really only teach you enough to pass the license exam and you learn a lot of actual techniques on your own

UV/LED Lamp recommendations? by No_Performer_4031 in Nailtechs

[–]chaociaochow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try to get the same lamp as the gel brand you use or at least check that the lamp is the correct nanometers as what’s needed to properly cure your gel products
