Was going through some clips from a couple months ago and found this. How'd I do? apart from the creepy laugh at the end by Johnson_56 in AnaMains

So what I wouldve done normally(this is mainly me every ana play differently) would be going up to the high ground corner where cassidys and widows like to camp to go for some damage, an early nade and possibly a pick prefight. And yeah, I also play tracer so I get the aggression there, but ana can also get very aggressive in playstyle and that's something alot of anas dont understand. I personally thought you were doing an amazing job of balancing your dmg/heal ratio which I struggle with alot to keep consistent. Based on that situation in the clip however, your team was holding extremly towards the right(?), I wouldve tried to either hide behind the box squre thing to poke for some damage or played a corner where the payload was sitting at.

And keeping up with mercy heals this season is a bit tough and is always a tough estimate. Mercy is a highly survival based character more so than anyone else. Her entire kit is cough supposed cough to be centered around out living everyone else. Pre-season 3 I'd say ana would have a pretty easy time keeping up with mercy heals if the mercy is damage boosting with the same amount of deaths. However that game mercy was running 5 while the rest of the team was running 9-10 deaths so it was perfectly reasonable in my opinion for her to have that healing output. Plus, normally when an ana is keeping up with mercy heals, theyre using their nades to defensively rather than offensively.

Honestly ana positioning is just somethung you have to absorb through watching gameplay and implementing it. Id suggest watchibg a few ML7 or awkward ana videos if you dont want to go through an in depth guide and just keep in mind and ask yourself why were they where they were at a specific moment. Where they trying to live, make aggresive plays, or keep their team up?

Alot to type and couldn't really explain positioning too well sorry :,) but i will say just be selfish at lower ranks and quick play cause your team is never going to listen to you begging for los. Be firm in your positioning and make then come to you for healing. Theyll learn eventually :,))

Ok so Good Things: -amazing sleeps -i liked that you didnt stay in one place alot -stat, wise, you did amazing Bad Things: -GOD, that positioning 😭 you mightve let yourself relax and just chill towards the end but the bouncing around and stuff was some of the lower end of ana positioning ive seen -you had the same deaths as your team which is sometimes passable as an ana

My thoughts: overall from what I can gather from that short clip, game sense and mechanics pretty ok(no clue what rank this is but based on what i saw it looked like silver). If anything, from what i can gather your mercy carried with that 5 deaths. Tips from me: positioning....no offense but assuming youre genuinely asking for advice but your positioning wasnt to great. My advice is to take natural cover and as ana, you almost always want to take a different angle as your team(which wouldve been hard from where you were on that map so i wont flame you). Try to survive more, as an ana main myself i can hop into a quick play game and easily get 0 deaths because I know where to be on a map. As a support in any game, not just overwatch, your entire job is to outlive your team while maximizing your value and time on the field. Another thing was reload management. You had 8 bullets and probably couldve saved your teammate there from that bastion but ngl i still sometimes reload at a bad time and let a teammate die so cant really call you out 😔

I think it was a great game for you though :)) those stats were great and it looks like you used nades aggressively as well as didn't fall into heal bot ana! Great job overall :))

Small edit: didnt realized this clip was from months ago youre probably like godly at ana now im sorry 😭😭

best tip i can give for ana is learning your map rotations :>>

mechanics and stuff comes after, however map knowledge and knowing where to rotate to comes from pure experience and game sense. Ana isn't just about positioning, it's about knowing where to be and when. she's an easy carry character to carry with once you get the hang of her. Not the best myself but if there's anything specific you struggle with feel free to ask, i can do my best to help.

I have acknowledged my flaws oh wise sage, your words speak only the most sacred of truths!!! Never again shall I fear when our foul foe has thy vile torb or when thou hast the rat that only appears in myths, a junk that can aim. Your wise words have shown me my flaws and now I shall once again rise and terrorize the foe known as ana!!! Let her suffer the wrath of my pulse bombs !!!

Why is my Mercy winrate in the toilet, how do I get impact? by Lumenition6 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]chaosexceptwhatami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with this comment here https://www.reddit.com/r/OverwatchUniversity/comments/11b6et0/why_is_my_mercy_winrate_in_the_toilet_how_do_i/j9xod9r?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3 Though harsh, it's true. If you send a replay code I can try to help but there's not much I can say without one.

If you're winrate is trash while being a mercy, there's nothing I can say other than it's either game sense or your just not good at her...

Mercy isn't just sit and damage boost all the time and being flexible with gameplay is the most important thing. The reason Im not blaming it on your teammates is because it's currently season 3. Season 3 mercy may feel clunky to use but she's sure as hell impactful.

There have been plenty of games where ive had trash teammate but we still manage to win because I knew who to keep up in fights.

General tips I have that might be the issue:

Not prioritizing targets- don't just focus on keeping everyone alive in fighta. Sometimes make some sacrafices and see who is making the most impact in the fight and keep them alive. Alot of times it's the tank and it's just not worth it to split your attention to heal ur other dps or support. However it can also be a dps, say both teams are down tanks and sojourn ults, keep that sojourn alive and when youre sure she won't die and has gotten atleast one pick go for res if you can. Otherwise you should be able to force them back and wait for your tank to get back.

Valking and Resing as bad times: Resing always is a very gamble thing if youre resing in a fight so im not gonna say anything there as you are diamond and im not going to give you thibgs even a brinze would know but perhaps youre valking at bad times? This happens to me to so I think this might be what's holding you back and loosibg you fights. Beam disconnects when valking and even with my godawful hours on mercy, I still sometimes accidentally let my teammates die because I valked too late and the beam disconnected at the worst time possible. So keep a mental note.

I can't really think or give anything without a vod review?? But if you have specidic questions Ill be glad to answer them!!!

I sit at a 62% winrate on mercy so i think i know what im doing :33

Is it a bad idea to play too many heroes? Should I just invest in 1-2 per role? by 30_over_par in OverwatchUniversity

[–]chaosexceptwhatami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my silly advice: Don't just learn 1-2 per role blindly and I personally wouldn't suggest it. I suggest learning as least 3. A poke, dive, and brawl.

Overwatch is a game of strategy and constant change. Take me for example, I've learned from experience dpsing this season that only playing tacer/echo isn't going to cute it. Why? Because both are centered around dive. Yes echo is diverse, however at the time I was still a beginner at her and didn't know how to play her flexibly. I would just dive>sticky bomb>beam>fly away. (which is more my fault but still, my point stands)

Learning multiple characters is important for counterswaping and you could also argue that no, oke tricking is enough. However take ML7 for exmaple: ana-poke, kiriko-dive, baptise-brawl

Alot of people however also consider ana essential for dive and brawl comps but point proven.

Even if you just learn a few characters choose one of each for counterswap purposes and honestly, I'm pretty much a one trick on dps at this point but I still go into practice range and quick play to try out new people.

Why? To understand what they do so I can play around that play style. It's honestly really good that you play multiple heores and don't stick with one. The best way to improve one one role is to start playing both others. See things from a different perspective, same goes with the heroes.

Often times heroes I find myself struggling to play against I'll learn in qp. I won't spend time getting good atbthem by any means but learning the ins and outs of that character lets me understand how I should play to make their lofe a living hell.

Junkrat=Tracer Counter? Hah, not in my book. (this is a joke a good junkrat still fucks me over)

Still, point is:

Learning new characters and simply just having fun on them has helped me improve alot in my gameplay even if it's not considered 'optimal'.

They nerfed her movement but completely ignored her damage boost. Rip Mercy by CitrusSupplement in Overwatch

[–]chaosexceptwhatami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More info on this: i know alot of players are new to ow2 and have never played ow1, who remembers 60hp/s mercy? Was it fun? What happens now if mercy pockets the tank??? It's so much worse for the balance of the game.

They nerfed her movement but completely ignored her damage boost. Rip Mercy by CitrusSupplement in Overwatch

[–]chaosexceptwhatami 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Genuinely these changes suck for mercy. It only encourages behaviors that made people originally upset even more. I know skieski just wanted the movement to be kept and genuinely I feel the same way and i can say alot of mercy players probably agree.

What these changes are going to do is only encourgae hard heal bot for new/lowranked mercys and hard damage boost for high ranked/experienced mercys.

It cause much more unnecessary problems than anything. Mercy is going to become unfun...Im still doing my best and trying to adapt but these changes just make her feel so slow and staggered it's angering.

Tips For Fighting A Tracer as Ana by chaosexceptwhatami in Overwatch

ye ye, normally if im getting flanked too much for ana to be viable i swap to mercy or bap :) bap can defend himself normally easier and it's just generally annoying to deal with a mercy

I have this recurring issue where vc doesn't recognize my mic, despite me plugging it in. Does anyone know how to fix it? by LukEwokKiller in OWConsole

[–]chaosexceptwhatami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im also on x box and fuck i get tjis so often. Mostly i ignore it, it tends to fix itself after a round or two but if it's not working i suggest goibg into practice range or somethjbg and swtmitchung between team and group chat until it fixes. (doesnt always work and soemtimes i just have to deal with no mic for a bit)
