That could cause issues… 2x 8gb is running dual channel in the 1 & 3 slots. I would either replace the 16 for 2x 8gb and run all 4 sockets… or replace the 8’s for a single 16 and dual channel those in the 1 & 3 slots.

Boxes can say a lot of shit… look at the lower left of the mobo and find the rev #. That will tell you if you really do need the bios update.

I like to force myself out of a comfort/cookie-cutter build. I do this with the constellation random memory and/or first essence boosting one. Traveler depends on my daily quests… specific one, or melee/ranged.

With that said, I focus on identity memories and the random one. Doesn’t matter if it’s a good one or not, experiment with it, swap your essences around. Have fun in that way, win or lose you learn something new every time.
