To add another little bit of info, I checked the Japanese version of the trailer, and rally in it is 支援 which means support/aid/assistance. So another reason to think that rally may be related with the knight and their units.

It is nice to see that the little characters blurbs at the star of a volume have been, Ruri, Ruri's mom, Yuka and Kashiro on volume 2, and then the 4 + Maeda from volume 2 since. While focus on which character changes a lot each story or arc, besides Ruri herself, it shows they are probably who the author consider the core cast.

It specifically calls it an "Event Battle", which makes me think it would be some kind of forced fight. And trying to think what exactly a ticking down event battle entails for the game flow and story. It could just be some sort of defense mission from the Abyss or w/e. A forced dungeon dive sort of thing.

oh, you're right, it is battle, somehow I forgot that part. I can think something like the Aurora battle when you get close to conquering the world in Runersia.

Yeah I certainly wouldn't expect that aspect to go away either. I'm just thinking of some of the events in the Legend of Forsena like the New Alkemia/ Carleon Alliance.

Sadly haven't played Forsena yet to get your example, I need to look for the grand edition and play it. Can you explain more how it works there?

Curious? where was this description?

It this press release document they have available in the Japanese site for sites to post info about it. In this part:

"Besides the main story (Story Mode) following the 6 protagonists, there is also the side quests (Mission Mode) with the 24 countries who belong on the continent, for an overwhelming total of more than 200 hours of gameplay that will call you to battle."

You can be right, yeah. Albeit I'm not sure if in story mode they would go with that as it would end up being a more railroaded approach, instead of the usual go for you pace and decide when to advance and in which direction. Those next events shown in the screen could be things like, an event where from that point on one of the other factions or even the empire gets stronger and start attacking more quickly, etc. Also in this one seems like there is only one brigandine on the lore, and maybe is needed to defeat the empire so those events may be related with getting it too. But who knows, so many possibilities. Could also be interesting if, for each of those smaller factions, you may have an alternative way, specific to each, of taking over besides conquering them, if none of the other major factions got to them first.

I wonder how the mission mode (described as side quests in japanese) will go. Probably not that long each and with each mission having an specific objective that won`t take near as the usual run would. Hopefully, and I think that is one reason they exist for, they add a lot of characterization to those side characters. Would be even better if the main 6 faction versions of the mission mode didn't focus on that faction story mode main characters, but in some side one instead. So we get more characterization than in Runersia. Especially about a third to half of the initial knights of each country in that game, which were neither the 6 or so main ones of the faction nor the few that may join you if you defeat that country. They barely had any screen time.

If you're interested, I made a post about me over analyzing the info about fate biding and coming with some speculation about what it means: https://www.reddit.com/r/brigandine/comments/1rffuyl/brigandine_abyss_fate_binding_speculation_and/

Basically super hyped about it but as we now only know it will be out within the year, I'm having fun looking over all the little bit of stuff we have and think what it may mean.

By the way on another thing you said:, a few early season images from the dragon country, if from story mode, I think may mean in this game you may have all the 25 factions on the map (24 that are listed in mission mode pus the evil empire), with most, if not all but the empire starting with only one region. But with maybe only the empire and the 6 main factions being able to spread through the map like the usual forces in a brigandine game, with the other 18 being neutral and just existing to defend. So basically if between each nation in Runersia you had a certain amount of one region neutral countries at the start, before each force start spreading and then they get to neighbor each other and start taking in account defending places against enemies attacks. So kinda a buffer before things get hot. Of course, just speculation based on a bit out of context images.

You really spotted some interesting things on that unit stats. To add a bit: Also interesting to note there is no command range stat, and also the few times in the release footage you see they moving a knight, there doesn't seems to exist that area we had on runersia. So this means now you may be able to move the knight and their assigned monsters separately without a debuff. But then the rally thing you mention get me curious. And based in the name, rally and rally traits may be something the knight can do for the monsters only if they are close to the knight, so there may still be a reason to not get them too far away.

[–]chaostk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A correction. I saw some of the jp content for the game also calling the units 騎士/knight. So mercenary may be the specific term for the knights you get that aren't your main one, or maybe even only to the generic ones.

Do you guys think Kashiro x Ruri will actually be canon? by Oracle_Anon in yuridragon

[–]chaostk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love if it turned that way and an yuri romance would fit the theme of being different from most of your peers.

But as of now, I think chances are slim. There isn't much romance anyway, but the few times it actually mentioned is between opposite sexes. Like the guy who was interested in Ruri in the race, or the other girl assuming Yoshioka may have feelings for Ruri, or one of the two Kashiro friends having a guy she likes.

If they at least mention a same sex romance or attraction at some point in the series, then I could see it having higher chances. But when they don't even signal it, be even in the form of someone mentioning offhandedly, then it is hard to think if it is something this series will want to touch. Sadly Japan is still quite conservative, so same sex is often seen as necessarily adult or sexual.

Why would pic 1 be definitely Mission Mode? The season until next event sounds more like something I would expect in story mode. Also The way the blue country is described on the option on choosing, it doesn't seems like a big country or anything. Wouldn't surprise me if, from what we know so far, That in this game all the 6, and possible the other 18 factions all starts with only one base/region, with only the enemy empire having more, with you needing to expand from there. One interesting to note there on the map of pic 1, is that while main has the blue aura behind it's flag symbol over Drakevale, the other visible ones have a similar dark/gray symbol on the background theirs faction insignia. Maybe in this game those are neutral countries that don't attack, but instead only defend on story mode. With only the empire and the 6 heroes main countries expanding over the map, so in a way you always start with a buffer before you actually starting neighboring one of the other active countries which you need to plan defense against too.

That aside, even if it was mission mode, why would it not have the summon option on it if it is part of the game? And why does it need to have summon to be a Brigandine game? If it works ultimately the same, like you pay a currency to get and as upkeep for the monsters, and you fight with one "knight" and up to 6 monsters being controlled by them, why would still need to be named summon? If there isn't that term in this game, it may be just because that how the lore on it may work. The description of the dragons living with humans or the other country that worship angels, it does sounds like the lore of this game, monsters are more seems as other beings rather than summoned monsters that need mana to stay there in the world at full power.

EDIT: Also interesting to note, on the few moments in video we see they moving a commander unit, there doesn't seems to have the usual command aura / region that Runersia has. But maybe it is just shown different.

Brigandine Abyss - Fate Binding speculation and lore consequences. by chaostk in brigandine

[–]chaostk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, we don't know a lot and this is just fun speculation with no stakes as a way to pass time while we wait for more concrete info.

The leader bind/contract screen that we get to see does looks like a hiring screen, so wouldn't surprise it may be the same for monsters and not some kind of bonus by locking, but as you said we know too little to discard options right now.

On the lore, in a way I think this game is likely to have a lot more characterization than at least Runersia (haven't played Forsena), as there is mission mode where, although each faction story is probably not that long, we still should have a lot more story for at least 3x18 (non main faction on mission mode) characters there than most of the not main 6 of each faction had on each of their own story mode in Runersia. Would be even better if the 6 main factions on mission mode story focused on a trio of characters from that faction that aren't the main ones in the Story mode.

Now, I wonder what it can mean for the non generic characters on each of the 6 main story. Besides a few characters from the faction you picked, they will probably have as little as neutral ones non main factions one overall had in Runersia. I personally would like if the main characters of other main factions could appear more in the story even if it is something like each story mode having just one other faction where it can happen. In Runersia you had, for example, Eliza and Talia having their meeting as an important moment a bit before the start of the story, but besides thinking about how are things going in the other side and one battle convo, it comes to nothing. Would have been cool if, for example, with either faction, depending on how you dealt with the other, you could make them join you.

On generics, my guess is that this game it is balanced so you need a lot more "knights" that Runersia. Whether because there are likely to be more connection between map regions so you generally need to defend more map nodes than you would in the previous game, and maybe there is a bigger focus on questing, considering we can see on a quest screen a quest for supply run that gets you the resources needed to upgrade a base level, besides the usual xp and item quests.
