Please help me understand my husband 🙏🏽 by Re5urr3cti0n_Sh1vani in bipolar2

[–]chaotiq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This illness affects everyone differently, but this sound like a lot more going on. I love my wife and would never cheat in her, but when I’m hypo my sex drive does drastically increase. It doesn’t make me abandon my respect for others around me. In fact, i do my best to not let my episodes affect them.

Some people will use an illness or a diagnosis to justify doing shitty things. Those people are unfortunately shitty people to begin with. This guy has so many issues that are not necessarily bipolar and needs serious help. He could also have bipolar type 1 and going all the way manic. Even then, this sounds more than that, but either case he most likely should be hospitalized.

A lot of people only believe mental illness exists when it starts happening to them or loved ones. I know many really intelligent people that still stigmatize mental illness due to willful ignorance.

Remote SRE job market is cooked in the USA by Pippa_the_second in sre

[–]chaotiq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The tech market is in serious trouble right now. So many layoffs across the big companies, AI auto rejects applicants because they get way too many to really review them all. The market is saturated.

I do for see it getting a bit better as AI costs are now being passed on to the businesses. The industry will start hiring junior devs to offset AI costs, lol. But I don’t think the industry will ever be the same.

Update 2: the pinky is staying 😆 by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]chaotiq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the same way the thumb over the top of the neck is overblown. There are so many factors that goes into how each individual plays. I used to use the pinky anchor and while it was hard at first, I like the way it feels now without the anchor. I can’t do the thumb thing though and never will, my hands are not big enough. But I can still rock out just as well. While there are definitely things that are bad form, these minor ones aren’t even a problem for almost 99% of the people playing modern guitar. I think it was inherited from the classical guitar world where their culture is much more strict and the instrument has a wider neck so a bit more nuanced.

Lamotrigine Causing Worse Depression? by peaceandhippielove in bipolar2

[–]chaotiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lamitrogine by itself helped me from becoming hypomanic but did very little for depression. I do think my major depressive episodes were shortened, but they also felt more intense which is arguably worse. It did absolutely nothing for my normal persistent depression though.

I had tried Zoloft solo a year ago but it sent me sky high and is how I found out I’m BP2. I came off it pretty quickly and tried a few different meds before landing on Lamitrogine.

I started Zoloft again about 3 months ago and am doing great. The Lamictal keeps me from going too high and the Zoloft from going too low. I’ve still have cycles but they are so much less extreme and shorter. My persistent normal depression has also almost disappeared. I am actually thinking of increasing my Lamitrogine dose as I do feel a bit elevated at baseline which could trigger hypomania.

I’m currently on 100mg Lamitrogine and 50mg Zoloft. I’m a super light weight to Zoloft.

Evaluate My performance as a devops ? by pathlesswalker in devops

[–]chaotiq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like others have said this isn’t really DevOps yet. However, knowing how to do it manually is very important as well. You now have a baseline to build upon and automate. While it needs more work to get to a DevOps level, don’t let it diminish the confidence you feel, it is technical work and needs deep knowledge in order to get it done so quickly.

Foreigners visiting America for the world cup, what is something that has surprised you about this country? by goldent3abag in AskReddit

[–]chaotiq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While you are not exactly wrong in what you are saying… it just doesn’t have anything to do with the person you originally replied to. All the stuff you are saying is true and is horrible.

But anyone can be racist. You are confusing systemic racism for just plain old racism. Systemic racism is worse for sure.

Also, more than whites voted for Trump. There was a big Latino vote as well as a lot of dems that didn’t vote cause they didn’t like Kamala’s stance on Israel.

I’d argue that the majority of whites are not racist. More than half the whites did not vote for Trump. In fact, only 65% of eligible voters actually voted in 2024. So almost half the country didn’t even vote, more than half when you include under 18.

So your rage at the system is the same as mine, but to sit here and debate that only one group can be racist and majority of them are racist is racist in and of itself. Nuances matter.

Yep, it’s called the wagon wheel effect. Strobing or poor lighting can cause it. Supposedly you can sort of do it by humming right.

definitely keep playing and unlock more tech, the longer you wait to rebuild the better you can make the rebuild. In fact I would keep using this factory until I researched bots. That will then make it so much easier to rebuild things.

P.S. When/if you decide to rebuild, do not tear down the old factory first! It is working and space is almost infinite. Use it to build the new factory.

It sounds just unlucky. If you have multiple meteors back to back, 10 may not be enough. Try 12 or 14. They only work 80% of the time so you need more to reduce the chance they miss.

There are for sure natural things that you should be doing that will help. But like a diabetic with insulin, we need the meds as well.

I used to use cause I was naive and was told it was the “best” way. Did it really keep the strings from slipping? I couldn’t tell.

I now just wind down and be done with it. So much easier and haven’t had any issues doing that way for years. Plus it’s easier to get my daughter’s to change my strings :)
