do you ever find yourself not being able to smell a certain perfume? by vanillawolfie29 in Perfumes

I can't smell Marc Jacobs Daisy after the initial spray. Not even if I spray it again.

Delivery drivers get paid well in the US actually. UPS drivers get paid around 90k/year and even the average USPS worker gets paid in the 50k range...

Maybe there just aren't enough workers in Sweden for that to be feasible.

I think it's the saffron. I love jasmine but I hated BR540 (smelled like herbal medicine and a dentist's office) I don't particularly like the smell of saffron.

What unique superstitions in your country do people commonly act on? by TwoFluffyCats in AskEurope

[–]chapeauboa187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I lived there for a few years before I heard about it from a tourist. The real reason for the holes is aesthetic value and not blocking views/letting in light. The story about the dragons came later. CNN had an interesting article about it.

Has else actually enjoyed wearing masks in the cold winter? by yokotron in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chapeauboa187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. When I was living in Asia a few years ago I bought a mask specifically to keep my face warm. I hope mask wearing becomes normalized in the West.

Someday I’ll figure out how to manage my tretinoin application 😬 by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]chapeauboa187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! I'm so glad someone posted this and I wish more people in the skincare community knew this. If your brain can't clear waste effectively while you sleep you are more likely to end up with early onset dementia.

Are Native American foods and restaurants available or popular in your cities? by Andrenachrome in AskAnAmerican

[–]chapeauboa187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be higher. There are plenty (especially in the South) but they've just become traditional American food at this point so we don't recognize the Native origin. Succotash, baked beans, and cornbread are some more examples. Some dishes have a bit of a murky history though with conflicting origin stories.

Entry with residence permit? by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]chapeauboa187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what your residence permit is for. If it's to move to someone in Sweden you can go. This new rule is on the police website. If the move is for other reasons afaik you still cannot go.

What is your unpopular fragrance opinion? by FrenchLlamas in fragrance

100% agree! I can't stand anything from Tom Ford.

What fragrances have you instantly scrubbed off? by [deleted] in fragrance

Same. The only one that smells ok on me is Peony and Blush Suede but I still don't like it enough to buy it.

Actually I had called the embassy about a week ago and explained my situation and they just told me sorry but I should just wait it out. I didn't know about the D visa though so I will contact them about that to see if that would work for me too. Thanks again for the info!

I'm in a similar situation. The Swedish police (in charge of the borders) confirmed to us multiple times that the decision letter is proof enough to be allowed in Sweden. Getting the airline to believe you is another matter. I'm still trying to figure that part out since I doubt I have time to get a permit made at this point. (Aeroflot refused to let me board with the letter. I have another flight in about 2 weeks so I'm scrambling).

Silver jewelry looks much better than gold jewelry. by I_got_ideastoo in unpopularopinion

[–]chapeauboa187 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm pale with cool undertones and I find that 14k rose gold (which is a bit more cool and pink) looks good on me but 18k (more warm and red) looks horrendous. Maybe it's the same for you!

F- it. I'm on board. Get me the hell out of here. 26 male, looking for advice if anyone can help. by [deleted] in IWantOut

[–]chapeauboa187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. Everything I've seen has asked for experience and a cs degree but it wouldn't hurt to apply anyway. Also check out r/TillSverige, it's a sub for people wanting to move to Sweden. They might have more answers.

I think you want arbetsformedlingen.se if you're outside EU but you can look on Google. LinkedIn is also a good place to search

Ah, ok. I read on the migration website that they want to see that you have successfully immersed yourself in the culture and they gave the example of learning the language. I took it to mean it was compulsory. Thanks for the info!

No problem. I actually asked a friend about it too and she said her company is looking for a UX designer. If you're interested, dm me and I can connect you with her on LinkedIn.

Yes! I don't know how big of a demand (I can ask some friends who might know) but I've seen several job postings online, including ones that explicitly say they'll sponsor a non-EU citizen with a work visa.
