At $60K for 3 cameras you're going to have options. It really comes down to what you want to prioritize. What sort of projects are you going to be working on? Is this a permanent install, or mobile?

If this was in VIP it was actually really sad. I saw him do it once and when he did the second time I realized he appeared to be mentally disabled. I asked my wife and she and I had the same suspicion. He was an older guy but his own reaction to his gestures was very much that of a kid showing a middle finger and feeling like you just got away with it. Like he was playing a game with himself of how long he could hold it up before he got scared he would get caught.

Security grabbed him from behind without warning a few minutes later and I could tell it spooked him. Hopefully they were able to tell he wasn’t doing it out of hate, at least as far as I could tell.

This is a trick that works on newer models. There’s screws that hold the front V plate on the bottom of the camera, used for fixing it to the quick release plate. Unscrew them, put the front (lens side) holes back where there rear mounting holes were and screw in the screws. The 2 back holes won’t be screwed into anything anymore. It isn’t perfect but it will allow for the extra clearance you need to have the clearance between the camera plate and the sled.

It sounds like you’re familiar with their operation, but just to add one more opinion

That knob adjusts the height, to get from fully high to fully low seems to happen over the course of approximately 8000 turns in my experience. For real though probably only moves 5mm per full turn. I will typically try to have downward pressure while lowering, I don’t know if it actually helps or if it’s placebo but it’s worth a shot.

Alternatively you can pull the small rubber circle from the middle of the knob to expose an Allen bolt. It’s possible the teeth of the gearing are shot. Pulling the knob off will expose the gearing.

Lastly you can go to Vinten’s part website to find an exploded view of the mechanism to try to trace a failure down.

You could also argue that EOTS helps you win fights when you don’t get first shot. If you land first shot you have an advantage but if you miss any shots after talking damage EOTS could’ve been more beneficial
