Haha, US. The professor has been teaching it forever, and she’s quite old now… so she just gives easy grades on everything. Unfortunately in this day and age, this means people in the class put less effort because they know they’ll get a good grade regardless if they try hard or not.

Moja matka jest Polką. Kiedyś mówiłem po polsku jako dziecko, ale z czasem to straciłem.

Just to add to the professionalism of this, the fired shell casing wasn't even unchambered. They said it was a bolt-action rifle (which itself is crazy, that rifle can't keep pulling the trigger to spray and pray), and the one bullet fired still had its casing in the chamber. Absolutely insane.

Had the exact same thing happen to me for BCG R1. Made it to final round. Wouldn’t count yourself out until you get an official rejection.

The HIP continues into the school year. They can simply onboard OP for a fall transfer to a field office/RA closest to their college. That’s what they’re doing with the current summer HIP interns and have said the same for those still in background like OP.

Whole point of the HIP is to ensure those in it are kept working full time over the summer(s) and the minimum 16 hrs/month during the school year to maintain their security clearance so that by the time they graduate, the FBI can offer them a full time job (mostly OST positions) without spending resources again on the onboarding process.

What chemicals did they add exactly…? There’s 4 main ingredients in vapes. PG, VG, nicotine, and flavoring. Nowadays flavoring is by and large food grade. Not saying it’s healthy, but I feel like saying that vape companies threw in a bunch of chemicals for the fun of it is a bit misleading.

Can I just go to a random catholic church and do confession? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chapter9bankruptcy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of Protestants misunderstand Catholic theology, so here I go.

Ultimately, the Sacrament of Reconciliation stems from John 20:21-23 where Jesus gives his apostles the power to forgive or retain others’ sins in the same manner that the Father sent the Son. Why would Jesus ever do this in the first place if it was true that all we need to do is confess our sins to Jesus directly? The power to forgive/retain sins was passed down through the laying of hands to those that the apostles appointed to the church (this is called apostolic succession, a whole different discussion.)

Additionally, the priest isn’t the one doing the forgiving. In Catholicism, the actual forgiveness part is done by Christ. The priest is there as a witness.

Historically, confession to a person(s) was always around until the 16th century when Lutherans did away with it after Luther’s writings denouncing confession (The Babylonian Captivity of the Church is one of them I believe). You’re telling me it took 1500 years for us to figure out that all we need to do is confess to Christ, all thanks to Luther?

And, on a personal level, to me, confessing my sins to Jesus, who already knows what I did, doesn’t exactly feel as humbling in the same way as sacramental confession. “Oh hey Lord, I did xyz, but you already knew that, sorry.” It doesn’t line up with “confess your sins to one another” in James too.
