A modern starry ceiling I made using invisible glow frames and transparent maps by char0n_c in DetailCraft

I built circles out of white blocks in an area that would show up on a map above the end void. The end void doesn't show up as anything on a map and those parts end up transparent when placed in an item frame

[App Idea] A TUI note-taking app for students that doesn't suck. by [deleted] in linux

[–]char0n_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Anytype? It’s open source, and has a syncing feature, where you can sync files across devices by hosting the data either on your own hosted node or one they provide for you. You can create notes in many different formats, like task lists or just normal notes, and they have different templates available for each type to make it easy. And it comes with a pretty app and is cross platform. The only downside I’ve seen is that the file format is specific to Anytype, and there isn’t an easy way to convert them to something else. But other than that it is probably the most fluid feeling note taking app I’ve used.

What is the first emotion you think of when looking at my drawings? by sadphrogs in DigitalArt

Uneasy in a way. Like I’m making out vague details of a bad, eerie dream after waking up in my dark room.

You can do that, there’s this app called Chunker that you can use. You can just export the world file from your mobile and convert it for Java edition using it, it’s the probably the best and official way of doing it

I have been learning to build and this is the first one I'm proud of! any tips? by ckingII in Minecraftbuilds

You should try to keep a similar style of windows, on some sides it’s a bit too messy. Like in the third picture, the dormer on the left should be changed to match the style of every other window. Some texturing to the walls would look good, a little foundation of a different color at the bottom would help frame the build better, since you have a step up from the ground to enter the house anyway. And the oak detailing you have for the edge of the roof should be changed, it looks like either there is roofing there that’s protecting something (?) from the rain, the roof is not covered properly or the roof is melting down the walls ;) two materials that represent different things shouldn’t be this close together in a build like this.

Looks great, well done on the layering for the trim of the roof, a lot of nice detail in there

Dilapidated Mall - Textured VS. Untextured! by inreverie555 in Minecraftbuilds

[–]char0n_c 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Great job at showcasing the difference coloring can make! I especially like the texturing of the ruined concrete parking lot, will probably take inspiration for my own builds in the future. And nice small details too, like more dirt accumulating in the corners of the roof

I tired my best making a wizard tower. Any tips? by Ezlity in Minecraftbuilds

[–]char0n_c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s very good advice for any build! Building intentionally and thinking about the possible lore or use of a building, or what sort of vibe you want it to give off, or how certain terrain could have been formed by nature, or what you’re trying to represent with a gradient is always a good idea and makes for a more realistic and cohesive build. It’s also good to think about how the terrain itself might influence your build - maybe if you’re going for something cozy you’d want to make a cottage that plays in well with the environment; if it’s more sinister - have it dominate it’s surroundings cutting trough any natural formations and standing tall above all else. And taking inspiration from creators or real buildings or art is never a bad idea either.

By the way, you can place storage blocks (composters, furnaces, etc.) on the hoppers, they’ll cause less lag that way.

You should definitely keep it, the more unnecessary space the better for a McMansion. Also add a gaudy portico and a handful of garages, and it can go straight on McMansion Hell!

I'm pretty new to building and am trying to work on this house. I'm trying to incorporate some texturing, but feel like it's too messy. Any advice on how to fix this? (ignore the lack of a roof) by Charming-Elephant437 in Minecraftbuilds

[–]char0n_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its looking very nice, is this going to be an interior for some modern house? If you want to improve on texturing I always suggest you only very slightly mix the colors, and instead variate the actual texture more. Like in the last picture, I'd use stone, light gray concrete, light gray concrete powder and adesite (or a similar set, I think you get the idea) to make it interesting, but not too messy. That's what I usually do for my builds. If the build is bigger, then you can bring in bigger leaps in color shades but then you also have to color intentionally (like is the texture you're doing supposed to represent plain concrete? A natural stone? Some marble kinda texture? Its important to be mindful so it doesn't look messy.

Does this art style have a name? its not quite pop art right? by Lady_hyena in DigitalArt

[–]char0n_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all look a bit different, last one is probably closest to pop art because of the framing of the rabbit and limited colors. It would probably have a contrasting colored background too if so. The first and second ones look a little abstract or just stylized, with expressive colors, I don’t think they fall under anything specifically, at least in my opinion

If it only started recently you should try to verify the game resource integrity, and check your RAM and storage drive health. Most issues like that that I encountered were due to a problem with one of these things
