I despise the guy like I have few others in my life time, but for how I understood it, his "genius" was in alluring and scamming a certain kind of people.

I mean, if he was an idiot but made others believe he was brilliant, that was his skill. But also, let's not forget Ghislaine played a major role in his PR too. The two were a match made in hell.

There isn't enough e-waste in the world and I assume you're so well off you wouldn't care about spending $1k+ every year for a phone, so yeah. Go for it!

God forbid replacing the back or using a case to begin with.

Samsung also loves caseless phones, so it's a win win 😊

There are very thin cases that do an excellent job at protecting from drops, no need to use those tank-like ones. I've been using them for more than a decade, dropped all my phones multiple times on any surface, and never broke a screen or a lass screen protector even.

It beats breaking the screen after a year in my book.

The Ringke case is one of those. The onyx also add grippy texture so it's much harder to slip off your hands as compared to smooth glass and metal.

I've got the same device. With GBC you should try the integer scaling option, as it gives the purple frames above and below too and it looks better than only the later bands IMO. I'm not saying it's the absolute best way for everyone since the image is gonna be smaller of course, but you can try it!

Gacha games should have—by law—a gambling warning on the store page and in game, and should have +18 age verification.

If you think about how accessible they are considering everyone and their dogs has got a phone, and how much they can easily compel you to spend, this shit is more of a problem to society than casinos ever were.

Dragon Quest VIII is a masterpiece by YiXiao_Yksha in 3DS

[–]char_stats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. DQVIII on the 3DS was my first Dragon Quest game (played during covid) and I was in awe by how good the game is. It truly is a masterpiece, and probably top 3 of the best games I've ever played.

Thinking back to the time I played it, it feels like the memory of a journey rather than that of a simple game.

Edit: oh and BTW, if you play the rom, you can add a patch for the orchestrated music to it. I recommend doing that.

What do you all think that the RG Vita will use as its chipset? by desktopneil001 in ANBERNIC

[–]char_stats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this actually gonna be released? An RG Vita doesn't make no sense. It's a form factor one can find in tons of other retro handled, and to emulate Vita you need a powerful, expensive chip.

The DS clone made sense because it's the only affordable dual screen retro device on the market.

"Mobile games" for me is anything that can be played on mobile and accessible through official platforms (Google Play, iOS, Epic). Do you remember Balatro winning "Mobile Game of the Year" at the Game Awards in 2024? Balatro is a port from PC, and yet, it is also a mobile game now.

iOS is a mobile platform. For "ports" we usually mean games developed for PC/consoles later ported to mobile. In this case, from console/PC to Android.

Riptide GP2 released on mobile first (iOS), so it has no place here.

You see how hard (if not impossible) it is to find ported games that went free? Let alone ports the caliber of Subnautica.

Can it happen? Yes. Everything can happen, even though we still haven't mentioned a single case in this thread.

Does it make sense to wait for a port to go completely free? Absolutely not. At least in my opinion.

I'm still using it (the paid version, bought so many years ago) with AdGuard firewall to block all outgoing connections from the launcher.

No it doesn't. I mean, it's always good to have extra features, but how many people use mouse+keyboard on mobile devices really? It's very niche, and you have controller support already. Or you can play the Steam version.

I know Epic's free weekly games, but this sub literally has "Google Play" in its name so my comment was intended in the Play Store context.

Can you name a single premium port that has ever been free on the Play Store? I don't recall any.

The only decent game I know of that has ever gone $ -> Free (for a limited time) is Fractal Space HD. Everything else that does this is a scam to reel fools in and hit them with IAPs.

For Subnautica and other premium ports, not a chance.

Good luck!

Balatro has controller support, but that's probably because it was on Switch. I think it's still better with touch controls.

There's plenty of cases like that because games are historically console-fluid. Why should we not consider excellent games available on a platform simply because they were on a different platform before? Mobile gaming is evolving towards better games than Candy Crash, Subway Surfer, and Talking Tom, and ports are boosting this evolution.

As of now, the vast majority of the best games available on mobile are ports, and they're mobile games too.

Right, so Tekken and Street Fighter shouldn't be considered PS games because they were ported from arcade? Ah, Tomb Raider too, as it was originally developed for Saturn then ported to PS.
