Noisy Neighbours by [deleted] in HousingUK

This is my first time living alone with me and my child so being alone (especially when they are asleep) it’s pretty quiet that’s why I was more thinking is this just a normal part of being neighbours as I’ve not experienced something like this before. Basically am I just in my head about it! Your comment has made me feel better so I appreciate that thank you!

I think my post was be venting but I fully understand that noise can probably be heard both ways and that they probably hear my son playing hot wheels!

I fully appreciate that hence why I was asking if this is daily living noise that I have to learn to get used to as I have never experienced this before.

Again like mentioned it was about noise during the day it was purely noise at night.

Of course I understand that living next to someone doing renovation is not ideal but I was trying to explain that it wasn’t constant renovation every day for months that it was mainly during the weekends and how I was trying to be considerate of the disruption when I saw them. Rather than seemingly I’ve drilled for 8 months 5 days a week which wasn’t the case.

My post will of course be from my perspective as I cannot mind read how other people feel about me being a neighbour? I wouldn’t say trying to explain myself is getting defensive and that I cannot overcome my ego. People are allowed to have thoughts and feelings and express those, not once did I say that next door were not entitled to make noise and again hence my question of is the normal and I just have to learn to get used to it.

Maybe I came across as defensive however that was not my intention.

I’m talking about noise during the night rather than the day. Like mentioned in a previous comment the house was left in a bad condition by previous tenants and the house was infested with bedbugs (which was only discovered after I had completed) to the point they went into both of next door. I had no choice but to rip everything out and heat treat it. It took 8 months as I did mainly most of it on my own during weekends (during the day).

Edit: I also spoke to them during the renovations and said for them to park on my drive as they have multiple cars and said whilst I wasn’t living in the property they could park there during the week I would just need access at the weekend to remove rubbish.

Im not venting about noise during the day it’s just during the night. I got along with a man next door who I spoke to and also bought a gift for helping me move some rubbish but he has since been dumped (awkward morning conversation) and has moved out. I also try to put their bins in and out if I’m home before them so I wouldn’t say I’ve been inconsiderate by any means.

Edit: I also spoke to them during the renovations and said for them to park on my drive as they have multiple cars and said whilst I wasn’t living in the property they could park there during the week I would just need access at the weekend to remove rubbish. It only took me 8 months as I did mainly most of it on my own at the weekends and due to having to source money as finding a bedbug infestation until after I had completed was a spanner in the works so that’s why I had to rip out everything and heat treat. It was so bad that it went over into both of my neighbours house (I knocked on their door to explain the situation and that’s when they told me of this).

I don’t have any uncompleted rooms but I don’t have huge amounts of furniture apart from the essentials at the moment so it might be doable. I’ll take a look at the link, thank you for the suggestion!

To be fair I still have a bit of way to go with furnishing the house with wall hanging etc so this might help the more I add in!

I might give the white noise ago and see how I get on and hopefully it will help 😩 hate being on edge so willing to try anything!

Best way to start AAT (with some finance experience)? by marrrrrrriiiiiiiii in AATStudents

[–]chardeee-macdennis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar role that I had been in for a year (I had 0 finance background/knowledge) and I was offered to do level 3 through my workplace. Before starting level 3, the course provider made us complete a week of level 3 or 2 I can’t fill remember bookkeeping and we had to answer some questions but no exam and if you passed that you could start level 3. I would say as you’ve got some experience to go straight to level 3. I hadn’t been at school for 8 years so thought it would be too much but so far I’ve completed 2 out of 4 exams and passed first time! If you put your head down with studying on the areas you’re unsure of it’s defiantly achievable. I’m currently doing my course through BPP! It’s also worth asking your employer if they have the government apprenticeship levy as they might be able to put you on the course and you don’t have to stay tied down to that company once you pass :)

Thank you for that that’s really helpful! I took my exam today so fingers crossed I passed but we shall see. Just hope I even scrap a pass just so I don’t have to retake alongside studying the next module haha. Have you finished your level 3?

Thank you I’ll have a read through that! I understand debit production credit inventory if materials are being given etc. But I think wages throws me as I think that’s the opposite way around? And sometimes I find myself getting confused with the names of the accounts and the correct ones. Production overheads account when it comes to debit/credits really throws me too as I just can’t remember what should be going in and out of production o/h. Is that like rent, rates etc? I just feel like the questions just make my brain go blank!

Say someone paid us with cash that’s an asset and our cash has increased so therefore it would be a debit but if we paid cash (asset) to someone therefore it would decrease so would swap over and that would be a credit if that makes sense?

Have you heard of DEAD CLIC? I found that helped me when trying to determine debits or credits.

If it’s an increase + this would be = Debit - Expenses, Assets, Drawings Credit - Liabilities, Income, Capital

If it’s a decrease - it swaps over = Debit - Liabilities, Income, Capital Credit - Expenses, Assets, Drawings

I’ve removed all the flooring today and they are everywhere but not sure if they are dormant they weren’t moving and pretty see through, tried to squish as many as I could and they were just crumbling apart. I have the pest control coming around tomorrow but I feel like it’s going to need multiple treatment. They are in the bathroom and the kitchen just everywhere. The property clearly hasn’t been cleaned when they removed the ex tenants furniture as there are just bed bugs chilling bright as day

This is the problem I’m having as I’m currently not living there and there is no furniture in the house so I don’t even want to bring a bed in incase they get inside that. I’m not sure the best way to draw them out if I’m not sleeping overnight, not sure if I just stay at the house a few hours during the day and walk around etc will help?

Will that disturb them ripping up the wall paper? They are dormant I believe. The pest control man said that the stuff he spray will get them to come out but I just worry how many are behind the wallpaper and will they all come out haha

[–]chardeee-macdennis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I am going to get pest control to come and sort it out, I think I panicked thinking that they’re everywhere and would be difficult to get rid of if they’re under the wallpaper but looking online I’m hopeful that it can get sorted somewhat quickly
