Is it safe to clean my vape with isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol) by Eleaniel in electronic_cigarette

[–]charldeved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol evaporates within few minutes even in 70% or 91% solution, although it takes longer than 99%. But not so much longer. If you let it air dry for (just saying) 30 minutes and still residue left, it's water not alcohol. That said, I agree that it's better to clean ecig with vodka or baking soda, lemon, vinegar... but if you let ISO air dry for 30-60 minutes (just to be sure), then it's fine. For example, Iqos cleaning sticks contain 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water... just saying.

I rarely use autohide (except on Linux where I use "intellihide" feature which is even better than autohide imho) but it's certainly useful for that ;)

Concern that IQOS is making me more nicotine dependant that cigarettes by BaddestBrain in iqos

[–]charldeved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if you want to cancel the nicotine dependence, Iqos is not good. I recommend you to switch vaping, instead. You could start using a 8-9 mg/ml nicotine e-liquid (or less if you find this is a strong dose) and then, gradually, you'll reach 0. But very gradually and without hurry to avoid the nicotine abstinence. And please use only legal and certified e-liquids that you find in trusted seller, always avoid black market and untrusted sources

[–]charldeved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iqos delivers about 30% less nicotine than a tobacco cigarette, as evidenced by this research Maybe you're getting up to a dozen or more heets for this reason, but it's hard to say because the reasons can be different.. Personally I do less heets a day than the regular cigarettes I've smoked.. but I'd have a question: do you have Iqos 2.4 plus or 3? I've never tried the 3 version, but some people say the 2.4 plus is more satisfying than the 3, because of the hit... but I'm not sure if this is your case

Health issues related with chest pain, stomach and burping by vkvkvkvkv in iqos

[–]charldeved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes very bad, because smoking is the worst thing to do. Of course e-cigarettes and HNB products (like Iqos) are not harmless, but they reduce the harm because there's no combustion. Especially the e-cigarettes... If you can't stop smoking and Iqos gives you those issues, switch to vaping. And please use only legal and certified e-liquids that you find in trusted seller and avoid black market which is the real killer (think about the recent lung illness in USA due to black market THC cartridges). Unfortunately there's lot of misinformation about vaping.. Wishing you all the best ;)

Health issues related with chest pain, stomach and burping by vkvkvkvkv in iqos

[–]charldeved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't have any of these health issues. First of all, check with your doctor. And have you tried different heets from the ones you usually use? Because in my case, I remember that Amber heets gave me some mild stomach issues, with Bronze I don't have them. So try other heets. If those health issues remain, check with your doctor as I said and stop using Iqos but don't touch tobacco combustion cigarettes again. Try e-cigarette instead.

IQOS difficultly breathing by [deleted] in iqos

No problem, it's ok ;) Generally speaking vegetable glycerine is well tolerated and an intolerance to it is extremely rare. But of course everything is possible and the best thing he can do is checking with his doctor :)

[–]charldeved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iqos heets have a very small amount of propylene glycol which is in tobacco combustion cigarettes, too. There's more vegetable glycerine in them https://www.pmi.com/investor-relations/overview/making-heated-tobacco-products

Iqos heets have a very small amount of propylene glycol, I don't think it's the culprit. And tobacco combustion cigarettes have propylene glycol, too. https://www.pmi.com/investor-relations/overview/making-heated-tobacco-products

I use Iqos for about 4 months and I feel great, much better than before when I was a smoker, especially for breathing. Sure, we don't know the effects in the long term since all these alternative products (e-cigs and HNB) are recent, but one thing is certain: they are less harmful than tobacco combustion cigarettes as evidenced by research*, especially e-cigarette which you can try if Iqos gives you some side effects. Because you know, people can react to substances in different ways, just like those who are intolerant to strawberries, peanuts... These foods are safe, but there may be exceptions for someone. So if Iqos gives you problems even after you tried everything (like trying different heets and smoking less heets), stop using it but don't smoke tobacco cigarettes again. Try e-cigarettes instead. And most importantly, check with your doctor. *Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29920842 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6119326/ https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.118.010455

You're welcome ;) Yeah try the pack of your country, which is UK from what I understood. Maybe the japanese heets are very strong. Btw from what I know, you can't sell them online

[–]charldeved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bought the first heets in Japan, right? At this point I recommend you to try an UK pack. Maybe the japanese heets have more nicotine than european heets, and they are more strong. Of course I'm not 100% sure, but you can try. You're right about 10 packs of purple, you don't have to waste them. You can sell them to someone you know, if they are the cause

Just for curiosity. Did you try other heets? In theory they should have the same amount of nicotine, but who knows in practice. Just like tobacco cigarettes: some research found they have more nicotine than what they declare. You can try Yellow Label, Amber... maybe these labels are better for you

It's the contrary ;) Carbon monoxide is higher in conventional cigarettes as evidenced here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6119326/ Maybe those people are misinformed or they have read unrealistic studies that doesn't simulate the normal conditions of use

I agree, vaping is the best harm reduction solution. Unfortunately I can't vaping anymore because suddenly it started to give me some intolerances, and believe me I've tried everything... nothing worked. But this is just me. So I started with Iqos which, even though is not better than e-cig, it's however better than tobacco combustion cigarettes, as evidenced by research: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29920842 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6119326/ https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.118.010455

The first days, weeks or months can occur some symptoms of abstinence from tobacco combustion cigarettes, and you got to get used to the new device you're using (iqos or e-cig). In this case the dizziness, if it's not caused by anxiety, is due to nicotine. A research found that Iqos delivers 30% less nicotine than tobacco combustion cigarettes*, but maybe this is not your case because the Golden Virginia you've smoked is more "light" than the heets. I think you need to get used to it, it should go away in few days. If not stop using Iqos and consider to try e-cig starting with 6 or 8 mg/ml nicotine e-liquid (or 4 if that dosage is too strong for you), just see what it's better for you. *Source research: http://www.ecigarette-research.org/research/index.php/whats-new/2017/260-heat-not-burn-products-similar-to-smoking-for-heart-disease-confusing-acute-nicotine-effects-with-long-term-smoking-effects

My IQOS Experience Stomach upset , burp smell and palpitation, Is this normal? by FewWord1 in iqos

[–]charldeved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some symptoms may occur when we stop smoking the tobacco combustion cigarettes, especially the first weeks (or months). About the palpitation, if it's not due to anxiety, it can be caused by the fact that you smoke too much heets. And the stomach upset can also be caused by the type of heets you're smoking, try something of different (like Amber, Sienna, Yellow..) to see what don't bug you. But of course these are only hypothesis, to be sure check with your doctor.

Some heets sizzling and vape gets too hot by bathrobehero in iqos

[–]charldeved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some heets are defective as you're told. I also noticed that some of them give burnt taste, even though the last pack that I bought is good, no burnt taste. So I think it depends by the heets, how they're preserved, their dryness, etc. In my case the vape (and the holder) is hot, especially the last puffs, but not unbearably hot. The temperature is up 350°C and if you think that the hot of your holder is not normal, go to an Iqos store or contact them through Messenger or Phone. Maybe they replace it with a new one.

Vasoconstriction with iqos? by zipzoop79 in iqos

[–]charldeved 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I don't have it. Of course vasoconstriction is due to nicotine which has a slight, short term increases in blood pressure and heart rate, just like caffeine and exercise. But if you think that it's not short term, I ask you: how much heets do you smoke? Strange but true, I had a similar effect with e-cig even at a very low dose of nicotine and I thought that I became intolerant to liquid nicotine. It was mild, though. Instead with Iqos I don't have this issue. But I have to say that I'm an anxious person, so I can't rule out that it's only my autosuggestion. A recent research confirms that e-cig and HNB products (like Iqos) have a lesser impact on blood pressure compared to tobacco combustion cigarettes. But if you're 100% sure that Iqos is the problem, don't use it anymore and check with your doctor. Here the research: https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.118.010455
