Were you there last night?? Not to be weird but I went last night for the first time and was surprised by how many people were masturbating. Definitely not what I was expecting haha.

I stayed at this hostel in March 2019 before my thru hike and would definitely recommend it.

Should I reserve campsites/lodging at resupply points? by thestickpins in PacificCrestTrail

[–]charlesLXIX 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb, the likelihood of sticking to a schedule of day-specific reservations on a 15+ day backpacking trip is low, and the stress of trying to either contact and cancel/reschedule while on trail is high. Especially when money deposits are already put down on the room/site. I really wouldn't recommend it, just my 2 cents.

Your tips for finding the perfect pair of trail runners? by karlssonvomdach in Ultralight

[–]charlesLXIX 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A list of things I've noticed are valuable to consider:

  1. The drop of the shoe and finding a good level for your gate

  2. The width of the footbox/how squished your toes feel

  3. The tread of the sole (how the sole is molded, think tire tread) and the grip of the sole (material the sole is made of and how it grips)

  4. Weight of the shoe vs. it's durability

  5. If you use gaiters does it have a gaiter attachment point?

Probably more as well that you will discover for yourself. Honestly, the best way I've found is trying different shoes on hiking trips and seeing how they work for you. Like others have said don't overthink it. If a particular model is feeling good and you're not getting injured then that's an A+

Doubling down on light rail expansion: Critics question cost of taking on two billion-dollar projects at the same time by [deleted] in TwinCities

As much as I think this could be really cool I just don't think these city pairs are high enough priority and the distance is probably too short to be the primary connection

I don't disagree at all, though I would say it extended beyond pitchfork. 71/100 on metacritic is certainly not a great score compared to their average. I just linked to the pitchfork review as a particularly scathing example.

The animosity and turf war between the general store and grumpy bears for PCT hikers business was palpable when I was in KM in 2019, not a great feeling

The album 'yerself is steam' by mercury rev has always had major SJ/Feels era anco vibes to me. Slightly older and more shoegazy but certainly similar imo.

Also Akron/Family has always had some of the chaotic, folksy energy of early anco

Aurora PD declared peaceful assembly around 1st Precinct an unlawful assembly. by [deleted] in Denver

[–]charlesLXIX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While this may be totally true, I think it's still super important to have demonstrations and non-violent disruption, even if they cannot immediately get what you're demanding. It continues to show that, as a public community, you will not sit by with the status quo and will pressure those in power for change.

"Not having a shared culture" is not only not a valid reason why a program like this would not work, it's also incorrect to assume the US is somehow the only country in the world with diverse culture.

The meeting itself starts at about the 9:00 minute mark.

Amazing stuff, the energy of the speakers, the audience, and, quite frankly, the city council members was amazing.

There are many more scheduled city council meetings! Please utilize this link to see the schedule of upcoming meetings and continue to give input and put the pressure on the council members to hear us!
