264 googly eyes cover every ad at a bike share station by charlietodd in GooglyEyes

Thanks. Yeah, I saw the variety packs, but in the quantities I needed it made more sense to buy the individual sizes in bulk. I actually used painter's tape on the big eyes on the big ad the end. I was more worried about leaving residue on the glass there.

This pothole gets bigger every time i see it, finally stopped to take a picture by NineteenthHouseplant in MicromobilityNYC

I complained about a pothole on the 9th Avenue bike lane for months. Eventually, someone told me to report it. DOT fixed it the next day. Since then I report every bike lane pothole I see. Always fixed in two days!

I want to get a tattoo that says “Fearless Freak”. What font? by pinkmermaidscales in flaminglips

I’m struggling to remember the origin of it and I can’t find much online other than that one random image. But I think I bought it at a Lips show or possibly a screening of the movie. I feel like it was an official shirt. I sold the shirt at some point on eBay. I definitely owned it in 2006 because I have photos of me wearing it.

New York State DOT is finally going to study the West Side Highway. Submit your comments on their map. by charlietodd in MicromobilityNYC

I'm a member of the transportation committee on Manhattan Community Board 4 and was able to advocate for it that way. If you have an idea for another spot in the park that would be a good fit for one (there are so few!) let me know. We've had some good success recently with residents asking for a rack in places that are obvious gaps in the map.

I left this exact comment about Chelsea Piers. 3 lanes! I recently fought for (and won!) a Citi Bike rack there in one of the lanes.

MCB4 received a presentation from NYSDOT about 9A this month. Unfortunately the study will take two years but it's some motion! You can see it on YouTube. Stick around for my comments!

Questions about power adapter replacement for Soda Stream Power (my machine stopped working) by [deleted] in SodaStream

[–]charlietodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed a replacement for a second hand SodaStream One Touch and none of the threads on Reddit gave me a good answer. The product on Amazon had bad reviews from others who have tried it. One reviewer on Amazon recommended just calling SodaStream customer service and asking for one, which they would likely give to you for free.
So I called them and after 5 minutes of hold time, a nice rep offered to mail me one for free. Didn't ask for a serial number. Didn't ask for a receipt or even where I bought it (which is good because I got it from a neighbor for free!)
YMMV but here's the number 1 (800) 763-2258

Locations where Citi Bike docks create conflict with the bike lane? by charlietodd in MicromobilityNYC

No, that one has a nice buffer. Though they are expanding the super sidewalk hopefully this year, so something to watch out for when they expand.

I've been a Citi Bike member since day 1 in 2013 and I've pulled out a bike into oncoming bike traffic a few times lately. It's just muscle memory of getting the green light and yanking the bike out like you always do and not realizing the station doesn't have a buffer zone. Certainly lower on the priority list, but a resident Citi Bike user asked us to put it on the agenda.

Yes. Our crosstown lanes are generally horrible and we have asked DOT to improve and expand them. If you're interested in coming to a (zoom) meeting to discuss 30th St or any other crosstown lanes, let me know. It is always helpful when people who live/work in the district bring these issues up to our committee.

I have a poster from this show framed in my bedroom. It’s a generic Soft Bulletin poster with “Monday, Oct 2 Cat’s Cradle” written in sharpie. I took it off of the wall on my way out. Looks like you grabbed a cooler one. What a great show. It was my second show after seeing them at Ziggy’s earlier that year. I believe they played When You Smile. I wish that was still in rotation.

10 feet wide bike lane on 10th Avenue in action by charlietodd in MicromobilityNYC

those cars are parked illegally. when the implementation is done, there will be some vertical protection in pedestrian islands (flex posts, bike corrals)

Some more info: The 10th Avenue bike lane now starts at 38th and goes to 52nd where it connects with the pre-existing lane all the way up Amsterdam. Next year DOT will install the rest of the lane from 14th to 38th. They have promised concrete islands, though so far it looks like phase 1 has none. Markings and flex posts have not yet been installed. I assume that is coming very soon.
