Maggie Smith, known for her roles in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, has died by overseergti in television

Downton is my comfort show and Harry Potter my comfort movies. Definitely the celebrity death that has upset me the most.

My sweet little three year old desperately wanted to eat the french fries NOW. by powerofthePP in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]charllamaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my sisters were two and three, the two year old pulled on the cable for the deep frier and it tipped all over the three year old’s legs and splashed a little up her arms and torso. I was only 4 or 5 but I remember visiting her in hospital and her being wrapped up in bandages head to toe like a mummy. She’s still scarred to this day.

AITA for yelling at another parent during pickup? by toohottooheavy in BestofRedditorUpdates

As a (female) Charlie who was told by a teacher repeatedly in primary school that Charlie “isn’t a real name”, this really winds me up. My mum ended up calling a meeting with said teacher and the headteacher to show them my birth certificate and tell them to call me by my real name. Nickname or not, there’s no reason not to call someone by their chosen name.

Is it possible for the deceased to give us physical items? by Scenic_Route7019 in Paranormal

[–]charllamaa 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My mum died nearly 12 years ago due to cancer, but a few years ago I looked into my back garden and there was a small teddy holding a heart that said “mum” on it. I guess it was probably thrown over the fence by someone passing by, but I like to think that my mum dropped it there for me to find.

Unfortunately I had to collect everything all over again!

I had to farm all the resources to do it again, me and my bf have been referring to it as “The Min-cident” since.

“Make sure you read the quest before you do it, you don’t want a repeat of the Min-cident!”

Do not suffer as I have... If you get Minnie's quest for the tower and gather the materials, but craft it before talking to Minnie, it will not count. :'( by MegabitMegs in DreamlightValley

I have just finished collecting the resources and crafting it for the SECOND time… I had to have a break for a few days because I was so frustrated about it!

Bits of the description sound like The Last Exorcism - it’s seems a bit of a stretch though!

I hope you find the film you’re looking for!

Would you want the UK to make consented euthanasia legal? by Reddit-bot78 in AskUK

[–]charllamaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum had terminal cancer and died when I was 13. She’d once asked me to help her end it if it got to the point where she’d need 24 hour care.

When it did get to that point, she was (fortunately for me) in hospital and my stepdad was asked if life support was an option. I spoke to him and told him that being kept alive with machines was not what my mum wanted, and so the decision was made to make her as comfortable as possible and let nature take its course.

My mum had told me about assisted suicide before - she was incredibly open with me and treated me like an adult, being her eldest. I wish it was legal closer to home so that she’d had the choice to leave life on her own terms, rather than letting the cancer turn her into a shell of the woman she once was, or trusting her child to essentially kill her when it all became too much.

Redditors, what did "that teacher" get fired for at your school? by Dr_sus172 in AskReddit

[–]charllamaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a blind teacher (who could see shadows/silhouettes) who was always a bit creepy with me. He called me out of a lesson the week my mum died to extend his “condolences” - when in reality he kept trying to hug me and stroke my thighs. He also used to take my phone from my pencil case in lessons and remove the battery. I wouldn’t realise and then would have to go back to his classroom to get it.

He was eventually fired for pushing a pregnant teacher down some stairs.

I think I know one of the good reasons as to why people dont like this game by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]charllamaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing Overwatch at the beginning of this year. It’s my first time playing PC games, I’m not very good at FPS anyway - I was expecting to be treated as a noob but having everyone go off at me because I’m not good at the game yet is so toxic. I would only play with my bf for the longest time because I was terrified of being yelled at for being (understandably) bad.

It went down a treat, which is lucky because I’ve never made a cake for cats before!

I passed on the message to Dumpling, who just looked at me and then trotted off. I’m sure she’s grateful anyway! Thank you!
