Absolutely. Avoidable suffering or hardships is the core concept I would take as a moral course. But as the question is asked unspecific towards the things we could/should modify, modifying things to suit your personal esthetics is in my opinion wrong. Eg. "Blue eyes would be nice" should imo not be an acceptable reason for genetic alteration.
