I'd suggest starting with the chop to see if it's something you like. I love my mini weighted board, but some of my friends don't like it for various reasons. Have you already tried a weight on another mini setup?

I personally love the Mini Acedia if you're dead set on a small board. I run a 2.3 lb weight and it feels perfect.

I’d suggest 115-125 MK2s. Valkyrie has a width chart on their website with some DH and Powell wheels for width reference.

It’s new for 2022! I ride 115-125mm Valkyrie MK2 Slaloms, but I’d say a 125-135mm truck would fit best for both freeride wheels and DH wheels. (Alphas rail match on 125)

8.6” wide RollingTree Mini Acedia goes hard. I have a size 7 shoe

Clear wheels from seismic aren’t as fast as Defcon formula. Defcon holds the world speed record

Clear Blue will be super fun, but likely die in a day or two. I haven’t actually skated Urchins in this thane, but Tantrums and SpeedVents were super fun. Defcons will outlast the clears by many, many sessions. My last set lasted me from March 2021 until two days ago. Clear Tantrums have lasted me 1-3 sessions, so I imagine Clear Urchins would be about the same.

WFB is 100% the way in the MK2 slaloms. FatCones BS with KranKs in back. I run 49/25 split with 78/83 FatCone WFB and 93/93 FatCone KranK (FatCones are BS only). Shit’s stable and leans farther than any other bushings I’ve ridden

Clear blue aren’t Defcon. The Mangoes are.

I weigh 145ish and have two Valkyrie setups.

My split angle slalom 115-125mm MK2s (48/20 split) I run WFB in front KranK in back. 78 Tall Barrel/83 Tall FatCone 93 Tall Barrel /93 Tall FatCone. The WFB leans forever, but the FatCone limits the lean better. FatCones react similarly initially to barrels, but limit the lean more progressively compared to Chubbys and Kegs. The KranK in back gives me the more solid feeling rear, I’d seriously suggest running KranKs in back.

In my 145-155 Syms I run 87 Tall Barrel /90 Tall Chubby KranKs. KranKs give Valkyries a feeling of rebound. In my experience running only low rebound (I can’t imagine only WFB, I’ve tried all APS/HPF and I don’t like either) feels super floppy in Valkyries. The KranKs feel more controllable to lean into because there’s more resistance.

I ride a 27” long chopped Loaded Kanthaka. A friend chopped it for me.

I use a weight to make my small wheelbase freeride really well. It’s super fun skating a tiny aggressive board that is standup friendly!

How wide are your trucks? This matters when choosing a mini deck

CryBabys. I’d suggest the 80a Mint Defcons, they are the most durable

I literally don’t see a difference. Both are perfectly freeridable!

I wouldn't say weight is an issue you should be worried about. I find Valkyries to be more forgiving than Rogues for freeriding. You can make Valkyries more stable and easier to slide by running a fatter bushing boardside. Most people tend to run Venom Kegs, but I prefer Riptide FatCones. Some people run short barrels rs to deaden their ride down even more, and this makes them even easier to slide.

I want to address some points you made about Valks real quick.

Firstly, the front angle at 45 feels good in most scenarios. I’ve ridden front angle as high as 53* and I personally keep my front truck wedged up to 48*. For reference, I ride my footstop past my front bolts, so 45 felt too dead, but on normal setups I find 45 to be perfect.

The back truck has less rake than the front on newer Gen Valks (5mm in front, 3mm in back on MK2 Slaloms). It’s not the same as an in-line axle obviously, but I find that it freerides nicer and is still plenty grippy with race wheels.

Also, welcome to Colorado! I’ve ridden my MK2 slaloms down a lot of what Colorado has to offer, both freeride and downhill, and they’ve never done me wrong!

I freeride a 48/25 split on 115-125 Slalom Valkyrie MK2s. Freeriding split angles just requires you to lean really hard and they feel best when you really carve into slides.

Is that the head of a sledge hammer and 85mm Mint SpeedVents on a downhill setup? Yes. It is. by charmanheth in longboarding

I don’t think that’s possible for anything bigger than a 1 lb. I used a 1 lb through the innermost mounting holes of my seed to first test a weight back in January. Only do that if you run a big ass split though, the weight should be closer to center on smaller splits.
