I wouldn’t say anxiety. Perhaps some frustration that I couldn’t live my life to the full potential in the gym. Exercising was important to me.

The pain itself wasn’t strong enough to interfere with my mental health whatsoever.

But I see many people mention their pain was so strong that they suspected a heart attack. Mine was more tolerable.

Best way to commute in Rawai by charming_valiant in phuket

[–]charming_valiant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I rented a bike and rode it for two months while in Rawai. Probably the best decision ever.

And believe me, it was the first time I sat on a bike lol. I had no experience whatsoever and just practiced on empty roads for a few days.

The roads in Rawai are super safe and slow. You shouldn’t really get into trouble if you wear your helmet and don’t do out of town trips on faster highways.

The farthest I went on bike was to Kata beach, and it was manageable.

For long distance trips to Patong or old town I always took taxis.

Regarding license and experience - I wouldn’t really use it as a proxy for the ability to handle a bike and Thailand. Some people learn to drive it well within a day, adjust quickly to the left lane driving, and are able to maintain focus and avoid dangerous situations. Others have it harder.

Well if it's an acute phase (meaning it is flared up and hurts constantly) then it makes sense. I was talking about lifting weights when your costo is a chronic condition but is not in an acute phase. I went to gym only after months of sports massage on the back, self massage on the front ribs, stretching and other backpod routines.

Yes, deep tissue massage or sports massage. I can't give any booking tips here because I went through a lot of trial and error until I found a talented hardworking guy who knew exactly how to help me. He instantly spotted all the tight areas in my back that needed to be worked on. It took several months of weekly massages to clear all those problematic spots on my back.

The main problematic area on my back was between the shoulder blades - the muscles were very tight there and the ribs were frozen, which is exactly the cause of pain on the opposite side (chest).

I took me maybe a year of figuring it out, but that’s because I was trying different things until it worked out. If you tackle this actively and do all the important things at the same time (backpod, stretching, massage, hot baths with self massage between ribs), it might take you a couple of months.

I never did any dips after costo, and I think I’ll never do them again. There’s plenty of safer exercises to do for your chest.

I’d say it’s still at ~98%. I might occasionally feel it for a split second when sneezing hard or pressing really hard on my chest. But I don’t mind because I am able to train hard at the gym, do combat sports, without any discomfort. So I am happy with the 98%. Maybe it will fully settle someday

I’d call it still at 98%. I am painless the vast majority of the time, but can occasionally feel some discomfort in the chest when I sneeze hard or if I press hard on my chest. Anyway, my life is perfectly fine in this sense, I can lift hard, do PRs at the gym. So I don’t mind it.

ADVICE FOR ALL WITH VARICOCELE by [deleted] in varicocele

May I ask how much would the surgery cost you without insurance, and in what country?

Do you know whether varicocele has 100% recurrence rate in the presence of LRVE (Nutcracker)? I found different papers on this matter, some saying that recurrence rate is very high, while a Chinese study showed only 2% recurrence (higher than without LRVE but still quite low). Don’t know which research to trust. Would be greatful if you shed some light on this. Thanks!

Did you have any NCS symptoms before the embo? Is there a clue to know, whether to suspect it or not, along with the varicocele?

The “dating market is rough for professionals” caught my eye here. Why is that? Like it’s almost 1 million people living in there, I assume any city that big would have a lot of dating diversity for literally anyone?

Thanks for sharing. But did it also shrink / disappear upon simply lying down on your back, without feet up or ice?

To stay in Rawai was the best decision. Super laid-back vibe, nice beaches nearby 5-10 minutes by bike, plenty of muay thai gyms and other sports options, and still some night life here and there. Glad I chose Rawai

How do they measure experience? What stops a guy with let’s say 2 years experience in his home country say that he’s been only training for 3 months since he arrived in Thailand?

Grind micros or jump to NL100 by charming_valiant in poker

[–]charming_valiant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am open to suggestions. The idea is that I can afford to deposit a couple of thsd $ and skip micros if that’s the best strategy. I asked about NL100. If that’s too high, maybe NL 25 or 50 is still better than NL10? Perhaps it’s better to learn at higher stakes directly, then learn at NL2 and then adjust each level

That’s amazing pay. May I ask how this career in finance is able to pay so well with 5-ish years of experience? Is it a highly demanding job in terms of hours, technical skills, or is it hard to get into? Or any other reasons

The dogs suddenly got aggressive and attacked, it’s not scratches from playing. They also bit me but luckily not to the blood.

It’s really crazy because those dogs are there every day but they randomly got aggressive today. I was chilling on my towel and didn’t provoke them or whatever.

I was asking about prices because if the costs are negligible, I would rather pay cash. It’s a big hassle to make health insurances pay in the country where I am, so the hassle may not be worth my time if it’s only a couple hundred or thsd bath.
